Yamaha FG-140

I am trying to date my much loved red label FG140 bought from a workmate in '71/2 in UK. The serial number is 1189976. The Yamaha serial number identification site doesn't recognise it but I gather that is not unusual. Any help please?
Also, I bought it in a cream coloured 'cardboard' type case with brown plastic edging to the seams and lined in red felt.The case has long since been painted black and now consigned to the attic in favour of a Hiscox hardcase. Were these guitars sold with a case and if so could the one described above be authentic?

Perhaps one of the 1s in the serial is actually an l?
