While I was visiting Rochester NY for 2 weeks in August Dave hired me an American Acoustech guitar. I had a great time with it and I was staggered at the low price for such a class instrument. I was seriously tempted to bring one home with me - except for what the wife would say!
Check one out - they are superb value.

i have one too! probably got it at stutzmans around 2000. full spruce top cerry sides/back. it sounds great and is getting better with age. im in colrado and ad to reglue a couple braces since its so dry here and i dont keep it humidified like i should. everybody i let play this guitar over the last decade has been impressed, bar none. its a real strummer but wl sing ntes if you dig into it. nice compressed and balanced tone. even above the 12th fret on the 1st string it will still retain some bass. too bad these guys didnt last longer. i suppose it was not wanting mas market them that ultimately killed it off. but then that was their reason in the first place. all hail acoustech!

Hi,
I agree. Great guitar. I bought one from a friend. It has the cherry back and sides plus he had a ribbon pickup installed under the bridge. Great tone acoustic or amplified, never a problem with feedback. Great action! String width at the nut is 1.5 inch which makes it very easy to play. I am interested in selling it for $500.00 with the buyer paying the shipping costs if anyone is interested. This is a great value and it plays better than most guitars at three times the price.

I bought an American Acoustech (cherry body - full spruce top) on the advice of a luthier I've known for over 20 years.
I then took the ax to my office and let three other players have a go at it. All three LOVED it and were floored by the price.
One guy even expressed concern that he'd just bought a Collins for almost 3X the price and it didn't have as good a sound.
Best kept secret for american, full wood, hand-made, affordable, NOT dipped in plastic, great sounding guitar...!

I agree! I just became aware of this brand after a year of exploration of other guitar values. I found the Seagull & Simon&Patrick lines to be probably the best low-price range value, and have been VERY impressed with Larrivee and Tacoma. Frankly, I didn't think you could get a better value - sound, playability and reasonable price - until I played an American Acoustech walnut last week. INCREDIBLE value - blew away anything close. Simple but beautiful craftsmanship, deep, balanced tone, and including a hardshell case for $800. Everyone - if you are near a dealer (check their website - americanacoustech.com) go play one!
