In 1987, I constructed a maple copy of my 1963 Fender Jaguar body & neck; a pickplate, metal switch cover, metal tone knob cover, and part of the bridge assembly from stratch. I never finished the project because I was unable to find a duplicate tremelo tailpiece, and no company made a set of pick ups to duplicate the Jaguar's pick-ups. Today, I think ALL PARTS, in Texas, sells a copy of the Jag/Jazzmaster tremelo tailpiece; however I know of no company that makes a copy of the Jag's two pick-ups (You probably can find duplicates of the Jazzmasters humbucking pick-ups).

I would be willing to make you set of full-sized plans, accurately drafted for $200.00, but I would urge you to buy a used Jag or Jazzmaster, and take careful measurements, and draw your own plans. Be AWARE that the Jags/Jazzmasters use a 24" in scale for fretting, not the 25 1/2" scale used for Stratocasters and Telecasters. Also, that the bridge consists of two 1/4" posts that are placed within two holes drilled in 1/2" steel rod that are embeded within the guitar body.

I had a 1 1/2" wide neck (at the NUT) on my original Jaguar. I ordered the custom neck when I bought the guitar new. I don't know the degree of arch on the original neck, but when I made the copy neck, I used a 2 inch width at the NUT, and NO arch on the fretboard, as I desired a flat finger board.

The rosewood fingerboard on the original neck is only about 1/8" thick, and is shaped concave on the top of the fingerboard (the arch); but is also shaped CONVEX on the bottom side of the rosewood to match the concave contour of the maple neck. I don't know if all Jag or Jazzmaster necks were constructed this way by FENDER, but it was done to give this narrow neck more strength. On my copy neck I didn't try to dupilicate this concave/convex shaping of the neck and rosewood fingerboard, as it would take much more work to accomplish, and would serve me no purpose. I urge you to check out this unusual construction feature on other Jazzmasters or Jaguars, as I have never seen it on any other guitars.

HI , I am SAURAV .I am an guitar enthusiast like yourself .Recently I found a broken guitar in my aunt's garrage,and since then I have been lookin out for some help .I would be really glad if you could answer some these questions .

Q1-How many types of pickup exist? What are there different uses? How do different pickups affect the sound of the guitar?

Q2-How do BASS pickups differ from that of the electric guitar? Do any other instrument also use pickups?

Q3What is the science behind pickups and their particular position in the different bridge area?

Q4-What is the ideal width and length of a fingerboard? What is the ratio between the frets of the fingerboard?

Q5-How would the sound be affected , if we expand the distance between the bridge(bridgebone) and the last fret (24th) ?
