I got this guitar AG says since 1955
This guitar I’ve been manufacturing guitars long ago but I got this one for me
Hi,
I read with interests and surprised regarding the “Gracia is junk” topic and have read a lot of reviews here. What I like to know is this, are you guys referring to the new guitars made over the past 10 years or the older vintage ones? I’m contemplating getting some really beautiful vintage ACN with signatures by Diego Gracia or Dionisio Gracia from the website http://www.guitarreriabsas.com.ar. Are you talking about these same luthiers? I mean these guys are quite legendary.
Please provide any info. I’m very interested in collecting Latin American made classical guitars from the vintage age. Thanks.
I don’t know how to tell if its old but it says. Gracia calidad en guitarras desde 1925. Model A 77843. Industria argentina
Hi,
I’m trying to figure out what to do with this guitar. Should I get the nut repaired and take it with me when I leave new york? Should I
donate it to a museum? I feel like there’s something special about it, but what? Any advice? Please help. I’m leaving very soon.
Does anyone have any information reguarding this bass as of quality, value and number made, anything helps really, Alvarez couldnt even tell me much
To you all, by all means avoid the Gracia guitars. They have become really bad. I suggest that you go to Harmony Central, link is: http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Gracia/
You’ll get all details there, and skip the fake Roger Espinosa review.
Regards.
This person ordered a guitar to France. We received an email from a guy in Norway stating he’d seen the guitar in question at a place in France. He wanted to order one. The original buyer had indicated he had modified the neck and/or fretboard, thus invalidating any return, especially at almost 300 bucks for DHL special delivery, which we would even consider on a guitar that had been tampered with.
We have sold several thousand of these instruments since we started representing them 5 years ago. The problem rate is about 1%, with most of them being minor cosmetic in nature. The return rate in your average big music store is double-digit, so we can live with this rate on a handmade instrument. We have had VERY few playability problems and the guitars are tough.
As for Roger Espinosa, his website is at http://www.espimusic.com
He is signed to New World Records, has played many of Hollywood’s celeb parties, and for the "Govenator".
Anyone who cannot even check up on someone before slandering their review as a fake probably oughta go get some counciling.
Happy New Year.
Gwen
All this is bullshit.
I’m a reputed classical guitar collector and I insist that those Gracia guitars are pure junk.
I had to make a real luthier refret the whole fretboard as the guitar was totally unplayable due to buzzing all over.
See my review @ HarmonyCentral to get all the details.
As a matter of fact, the company which sold me that guitar was taken off eBay and eventually went out of business.
This is a fact indeed!
I’ve recently purchased a Gracia guitar, model ‘C’ with a label that says "..desde 1925" There is no serial number. I understand that in 1950 ‘original’ Gracia company (in existence since the 1800s?)was sold and reorganized. Since then the label reads "..desde 1950". I was wondering if anyone had any info on pre-1925 Gracia guitars (e.g. value, quality, etc)? I wrote to the factory in Argentina but received no response…

Albert, I can’t tell you much (in fact, I can’t tell you anything) about your guitar. But if you e-mail me tedski2000 at charter.net I’d like to hear about anything you learn about it.
Cheers,
Ted

The comment by “anonymous “ is ludicrous on it’s very face! We’re expected to believe he’s a reputed collector that’s taking a “horrible piece of junk”( sic) and having a professional luthier rebuild it??!! No amount of persuading can make me believe he knows anything about anything’
Trying to get info on two Gracia guitars a model E and a Model F purchased new by me in the mid 1970s. Thanks
Uncle of original luthier bought company in 1952, so all guitars subsequently manufactured carry label” desde 1952“…… my model “A” ( serial #3267 [ pre 1952]) is entirely crafted in rosewood, except for the neck … headstock rosewood also. So guessing this beauty is circa 1925-1930. Plays like a dream, and is in extraordinary condition!!
Kool if you dont want yours just carefully send ut to me.very dumb comment what instrument that has been in existence since the twenties think for yourself even the varnish in
Stain still intact and the kind of wood it was made from you can’t even get now.anyway dude must be right it’s terrible don’t buy it send it to me hehehe
These guitars are of no value at all.
Very poor construction and sound.
It seems that they were using a defunct brand to market their garbage.
It still sells via a lousy eSeller in the US (Hardplayed) and people keep being robbed of their money!

i have a guitar of the same make but a little older… i inherited it from my pop… i dont play guitar so i dont know what to do with it… it isnt somthing that i would want to learn eather… i dont know how much its worth however i would like to sell it… every thing is in its original state includeing the strings and case and strap
Would you still like to sell this guitar? If so I am looking to pick one up.
Have an Alvarez Classical Guitar Model 5006. I purchased it in NYC in the summer of 1968 or 69. Had a short lived love affair with classical and folk guitar. Unfortunately just didn’t spend enough time on it. The guitar is in near perfect condition in its original hard case. Would probably like to sell it as my two sons have no interest in it.
Well, I have that exact same model, and I play it alot, so I can tell you that the quality is outstanding. However, I have no idea what it’s worth. As for care, usually I clean it with "Murphy’s Oil Soap" or a similar wood cleaner, and it still looks as good as it did when it was brand new. (The guitar is older than I am, but my dad bought it when it was new)
I am trying desperately to purchase a guitar of that model. One was stolen some years ago from my car when I was playing for our Church services at Southern Methodist University.. should you ever decide to sell it, please let me know.. for me, it is a treasured "memory" of the 1970’s. — Patricia Martin, Dallas, TX
Patricia, are you still looking for this Alvarez guitar? I live in east Texas and I have one we are going to sell. If you are interested, email at [email protected].
i have one!! still looking??

I have a guitar, given to me as a gift sometime between ’68 & ’70. It is a Japanese made guitar: Alvarez Classical Guitar #5006. Any feedback on quality or value? It is really in mint condition, having hardly been played (unfortunately) everything, (including the strings!) is original. How should it be cared for?
I have one for sale, great condition, action needs to be raised a bit. RATTY CHEAP case…needs a good hard shell sometime. Have too many guitars, don’t have room!
I bought it new in the late 70’s seems to have better wood and features of other #5006 instruments I’ve seen, but they all played well. I bought it since it was a close size match to my Kohno, but I didnt always want to take the Kohno out of doors.
email and I’ll send pics. -Roy
Hi Roy!
I was wondering if you still had that guitar available? Is it a 5006 model with the mandolin player on the alvarez logo? I would love to see some pics and talk more about it if its still available.
Thanks

Hoy me he comprado una guitarra gracia azul a 400 pesos

I have the US distributorship, and have been placing them with dealers since mid-August 02. Check out the website at http://www.graciaguitars.com
Does any one know the history of the company ? Web sites are in espanol ! I too have a model F Gracia which I believe to be to 30 years old. My udnerstanding is that Gracia sold out to Antigua Casa Nunez in 1992, but appeaars that the Gracia name is still being marketed today. What is the price range of their current production classical guitars ? Is it now simply another mass produced guitar ?

:(this is my intended follow -up) I recently acquired a Gracia, Modelo A ..serial #3302. It is in great shape, and sounds awesome. The label also says "desde 1925". Is it as old as the bloggers have purported? Or are the model letters no indication of the sequence. Average price for a Gracia? Anyone??

: I own a Wilde Wedge and am so happy. I wanted to travel to Spain to get a fine guitar but instead this guitar came to me in LA at the NAMM show. I couldn’t be happier. It is an orginal work of fine craftmanship and in my opinion doesn’t get much better for a $1500 guitar.

The English website is at http://www.graciaguitars.com. The company was resold in 98, and is now under the name of Antigua Fabrica de Guitarras. The general manager is Mr. Jorge Italiano, who started with the company as a boy in the early 1950s. He is commited to the low production volume, hand-made tradition, and the guitars range in price from US$200 to US$2500. As soon as it is re-updated, there will be a list of US dealers posted on the web site shown above.
I just bought a used Model F Gracia guitar at a thrift shop. It’s beautiful, but I can’t seem to locate any information on this brand on the web. Can you refer me to a good website that would give me some of the history of this brand of guitar?
Thank you,
Sandy S.

I’ve had this guitar since 1990. I found it at a church yard sale…it was very dusty and dirty and had broken tuners.I payed $15 and was told it was owned by a missionary who passes away….I cleaned up the guitar frets and replaced the tuners ($60) so I could play it…I been very happy with this guitar…it has a nice tone but it is not at par with a professional $5000+ guitar.
I have a Gracia that I am trying to repair. the spacing of the tuning machines is unique. Do you know where I can get them? Also do you know any thing about the quality level of this one? It sounds good to me?
Estimado: Vi la oferta en de remate y quede impresionado por las fotos de dicha Guitarra, estaria muy interesado en probarla.
Tenga a bien enviarme un mail para asi contactarnos.
Desde ya muy agradecido.
