I want everybody to know that I have sold 100’s of orders all over the world and only two buyers have bitch on this inter-net sight which I cannot remove. Both buyers received their wood late due to shipping delays in the mail system and it was excellent wood when they received it. One billet was at the buyers local Post Office being used as a door stop and the people in the Post Office just plain forgot about it for months until one stumbled over it. Keith Mckenzie is just a plain liar and received his wood. Colorado luthier Association recieved all their wood but it was sent to one buyer and he screened it and kep the wood of the best grade for himself and then lied. There are many thieves and liars in this business. We all know that. I am going to leave this sight up becuaes it has brought my company a lot of business. The people that buy one billet are the worst buyers and we all know who they are. Only about 1% of my buyers out of a 1000 or more bitch. My record is excellent. Keep this sight up. Its good for my business. John of alaskatonewood.

I have nothing but great things to say about the wood I recieve from Alaska Tonewood. I have made 100’s of guitars to date. I have never been let down. Keep up the good work and service Mr McCray…..

    John R, McCray

I am in the process now of filing a law suit against Keith Mac kenzie and the Colorado Luthiers Association in Federal court in Ketchikan, Alaska for slander and defrauding my company. If anybody out there wants their names added to this suit that has had similar business dealings with these individuals. Then you should contact my company at http://www.alaskatonewood.com. Enough is enough of these people that want to destory our businesses over the inter-net and then hide in silence when they know they are wrong. Thank you all. John

  3. Liars.
    Alaska Tonewood

    Reader take notice.

Keith Mackenzie is a liar. He wanted his wood two days after he order it. One billet and he went on the inter-net and complained that he was ripped off and his very superior billet of master grade was in the mail and delivered. What a A-hole for us all to listen to these liars. John McCray

The Colorado luthiers Association ordered 10 bolts and one of their members received the wood and screened it all and kept most of it for himself and the other membes who paid received nothing. I had to send 4 billets free just to please them and shut them all up. I lost money on that deal. John McCray.

There is a sound going around that Bruce Harvey of Orca Island tonewoods has great wood. Look at his page and look at mine. See any similaritys? Thats right. Bruce Harvey made $1000’s off the 20 or so cords he bought from me and is selling to you for sky high prices. Then has the nerve to go on the inter-net and say I am a no good S.O.B. PPPPPPP on him too.

You want excellent service and excellent Sitka Spruce tonewood. Learn to read between the lines and learn to tell the truth. You will get no where with this old timber faller and logger of 35 years with lies and tricks.

If anything in this business we need State and Federal regulations to stop these low lifes from running our business into the ground. John McCray of Alaska Tonewood.

I have found numerous post around the internet from people that John has ripped off. He either doesn’t send the wood or sends poor quality. He rarely sends what is advertised.

: My company has a very large supply of Sitka Spruce tonewood for sale. This tonewood comes from very large blow downs that range from 4-8 foot on the butt cut. This wood is all AAA-AAAA and I sell it for 1400$ a cord and ship it a half cord at a time for 700$ and the buyer pays the shipping. I can also send you a very large bolt that weights from 80 to 110 pounds for 50$ and the buyer pays the shipping. I have been cutting tomber wood products on the Pacific West Coast for over 40 years and this wood I ship is very good quality. My company is located in Ketchikan, Alaska. I hope your company is interested in this wood. Thank you. John

Please do not even think about sending this guy your money. I know 3 builders who have been completely ripped off from this guy. If you are lucky enough to get wood from him it will not be the quality you expect. The wood we received was complete garbage. It was suppose to be "Superior Master Grade" and what we received wouldn’t pass for 2A from any reputible tonewood supplier. The most expensive firewood I ever bought.

: : :I have Sitka Spruce Tonewood for sale. This wood is from very large blow downs that are 4-8ft on the butt cut. I cut nothing under 3ft on the butt cut. I ship this wood in 1/2 cord shipments for $725 and the buyer pays barge shipping to Seattle and then must make arrangements for final shipping to its destination. The cost to Seattle is approximately $70. I can ship you 1 bolt to a half cord at a time. My grades are A, AA, AAA and Master grade. I can send you a shipment of any or all of these grades. A Master grade shipment will have some 3A and 2A wood in it but not alot. I sell wood from 16" to 51". I sell this wood all over the world and have been cutting wood products on the West Coast for over 45 years. I will send you an excellent product. The color of this wood in this part of Alaska is a pure white color with a shiney tint to it. I send no knots and the growth lines do not wonder more than 1/2" from the top of the bolt to the bottom of a standard 26" bolt. I look forward to doing business with you

We took over Alaskatonewood after John found nearly a 1000 sights that were using his name for their own advertistment plug in’s. After all: He was number one in sales in all the world for hand split billets. Plus he got old and cranky and fed up at 65 with all the bickering from guys that make one guitar in their lives and have a key board in front of them and they become instant kings and experts in tonewood. Everybody knows that is B.S.

We have excellent stocks in AA-AAA Sitka Spruce in medium to loud figeration in Bear Claw for $17.50 a book match top. If you buy in orders of 20 and 30 sets. Great buy for a Bear Claw lover. Plus we sale a lot of blanks in Sitka Spruce that is pure 100% tonewood without ANY defects. These come in 2-3/8″ thick X 9-10″ wide X 24″ long to 3-3/8″ X 9-10″ wide X 24″ long . All in Sitka Spruce and Alaska Yellow Cedar plus Western Red Cedar. These sell for $75 to $175 depending on the grade and line count which is alway mostly master grade but some superior and some AAA. The buyer pays the shipping on all this and as usual we are full up with hand split billets and can deliver them any where in the world. You name the grade to AAA and above.

Give our new sight a look and stop reading about two guys out of a 100 buyers who bitch. You will fined people who bitch about being in heaven. We have large stocks of just about anything a luthier need to build with. Thank. Robert of http://[email protected]

For every dissatisfied buyer of mine I have 25 that are happy. My quality of wood speaks for itself. Your wood is probably in some warehouse with all the rest of the PO stuff that gets lost. I have had a million tricks pulled on me to get free wood. I know I sent you the wood. What now? Send me the shipping money and I will send you ANOTHER bolt. Its not my fault and its not your fault. Getting into a word game is not going to do it here. If you would send a $100. I will send three bolts and one will be the one you missed somehow. Plus one will be free. Look at my sight. Do I look like a Liar and a robber. I will take a lost to make you happy as I try to do with all my buyers. John and thank you.

July 19th still no wood. After much of my time and many e-mails I have been told I can not get my money back and the "lost" wood will not be replaced. While I am sure their wood is fine I don’t think most of us would consider this a proper way to do business. I found that Paypal will not help me because I didn’t file a complaint within 45 days. Paypal said that if I would have filed within 45 days they would have gone after J&S and that this transaction is outside what they consider acceptable. Oh well buyer beware.

        Buyer Beware

I have found numerous post around the internet from people that John has ripped off. It seems He either doesn’t send the wood or sends poor quality. It looks like He rarely sends what is advertised.
Here’s one of many examples floating around the internet if you search for it.

        John,

I think what would make us happy at this end would be a schedule of when you plan to ship our additional 8 bolts. At least we’d know what to expect. Please let me know what you can do here.

It has come to my attention that there is over 400 places on the inter-net that has our old name of Alaskatonewood on it and articles about our old business that has been shut down now for over two years. We are currently thinking of opening up the sight again for world wide business and now that my heart condistion is much better from the lay off of bad habits. My heart was only producing 27% of its potential blood flow and now is producing over 55%. Time to go back to work. We have never been to any court of law for our business practicing and have satisfied all buyers excepting those that have broken American shipping laws.

We are willing to give buyers the benefit of the doubt and will supply returns of tonewood products one time with new products at 50% off to help with shipping costs. The buyer can keep the old products. “One time” and I will this time inspect each and every product shipped going out the shipping door.

Providing tonewood again to the world is on our calendars again. Key board want a be luthiers will not alter our business to provide quality tonewood to the world markets. We have shipped 1000’s of billets and tops to markets world wide with only 1% disapproving of our quality grades that was sent to buyers because of having to hire sub-quality help due to my fibrillating heart condition which was inherited from my Dads side of the family.

Your feed back is welcomed for everybody to see and we will be offering tonewood products again very soon. Thank you. John of alaskatonewood.

i have read all of the previous back and forth messages and i an very willing to give the benefit of the doubt. my only problem is that i just recently got totally ripped off by an outfit called INLAYUSA.com. can you give me a quote for 1/4 of AAA spruce? a picture or two wouldn’t hurt, and by the way, nothing gets left behind my post office, we have the best delivery in the usa in buffalo, ny!
PS I need boards 11″ wide and more than 20″ long, I have a Laguna 3000 SUV so resawing is not an issue. Thanks, Paul
