Re: Les Paul Recording electronics - help needed

I actually called Gibson and asked if they have any remaining literature or even photocopies of the low-impedance guitars(Recording, Personal, Professional). Nothing at all on file. I own a '71, luckily it works ok. I've taken off the plate and I would imagine the circuitry could be duplicated with current smaller electronics. If I find a schematic, I'll post again. Good luck. Mike Loce.

Re: Les Paul Recording electronics - help needed

Hey guys....I have two LP Lo-imps, and a good schematic. Actually, I have schematics for all the lo-imp models. Email me and we'll discuss how I can get copies to you. Free, of course.

Re: Les Paul Recording electronics - help needed

Been looking too. All I can find is this, a fairly small hand-drawn schematic at http://www.guitar-parts.com/images/lespaul.jpg - I've tried resizing it but the quality just isn't good enough to read properly.

Someone somewhere must have a copy of the original manual - anyone got any hints or tips on using the controls? Apparently certain controls only when the Tone switch is in cetain positions.

Re: Les Paul Recording electronics - help needed

well, self teaching never goes out of style, I guess. The Bass and Treble only work while the tone is a number 2, and I'm trying to figure out if the decade is isolated, or if it works in all three tone positions. Of course we use our ears, but to see it in print would clear the air. The tonal differences are very subtle, and one might think something is changing, when actually it's not!

87 gibson les paul custom - was it a good year for the guitar?

sdfsdf

Re: 87 gibson les paul custom - was it a good year for the guitar?

Not really. After Gibson made the final move in 85' things were cut done pretty bad. I have played some 87' models that were fairly heavy and still well playable. Only a few though. The others needed attention pretty bad though.

How much is a 1980 Les Paul Artist edition worth

I am paying for a 1980 Gibson Les Paul Artist edition, with on board electronics and compresser. I was just curios how much it would be worth with a factory reconized flaw in one of the coats of paint under the clear coat. It's in execelent condition exept for 2 small scratches. I would like to know also how much it cost brandnew.

Re: How much is a 1980 Les Paul Artist edition worth

Hey..
I would say ca. 3900 Australien Dollars. I got one and was also curious about its worth. I found the best answer on www.guitarcrazy.com. The price for a brandnew was 3800 swiss franks in the year 1978. Good luck..

I own a electric lotus guitat and I hardly ever play it and I wanted to see how much it is worth because I was thinking of getting rid of it. I'am expecting my first baby real soon and I know I could use the extra cash . I also have a case for it and a peavey audition 110 amp and i have no idea what the value is worth on them. If you could help me out I would appreciate it. I thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Re: i don't know how much my guitar is worth? please help

I have a takamine ef-378 I'm not sure what year it was made, but I bought id used in 1991. it's in real good shape, has a hard case.

Re: i don't know how much my guitar is worth? please help

I own a Takamine GS330S. I never played it. It is in very good condition. If you could tell me what it is worth that would be great.

Re: i don't know how much my guitar is worth? please help

1998 huh? Probably not much more than what you paid. You couldn't sell it for the original price. Once you walk out the door with it...Value already goes down.

Les Paul Jr. Special HB vs. Les Paul Special SL HB

What is the differance between the Jr. Special Humbucker guitar and the Special SL Humbucker guitar? The seem to be very alike but the Jr. costs more.

How about an '82 LP Standard?

Gibson Les Paul Custom '71 HOW MUCH?

I have the chance to purchase a Gibson LP Custom 71 model....
The guy I might be buying from... says I can have it for $600
The guitar is not in 100% fine condition, but for a 71model it's very good...
Is this to much to pay for that old gibson... or do they climb in prices as they grow older?

Re: Gibson Les Paul Custom '71 HOW MUCH?

Buy it. It can only go up in value. It's already vintage, so the guy either really likes you, doesn't know what it is, or it's too far gone for his trouble. Buy it. Work with it, and if it doesn't work out, then sell it again. Make sure it says Gibson, and good luck.

Les Paul Personal

Does anybody have any info on the Personal series of Les Pauls? I know htey were only made from 69-71, and have low impedence pickups, but how about some opinions from people who have them? There is very little info available. Also, approximate value? Thanks, Donzilla

Re: Les Paul Personal

hi. here's a few things Dixon Yarmouth left out of his description of the Les Paul Lo-Impedance series of guitars:
1. The pickups were stacked-coil humbuckers, so they weren't as open-sounding, or uncompressed, or as "free" sounding as true single-coils....but Les designed them to be "60-cycle-free", and did a very good job of it. So, if you cancel the hum, you cancel some tone and feel (too bad Les didn't get Chris Kinman to design the pickups. THEN we'd get a true single coil sound from this guitar!! www.kinman.com). This is still an excellent guitar! The switches let you reverse the polarity of the bottom coil to the top coil, to get a thinner sound, the Decade switch manipulate the tone again, and the 3-position switch does that yet AGAIN. There is a Bass control, Treble, and Volume. Mind-blowing versatility. Plug straight into the board and get ready to jizz in your pants(you metal heads, shredders, and Stevie Ray wannabees go back to your videos and jerking off...this is guitar talk. You're not expected to understand any of this). If you have a chance to get one of these, scoop it. It's fantastic.
Message ends.

Uh...I made a huge mistake! The "PHASE" switch doesn't reverse the polarity of the bottom coils in the stacked-coil humbuckers....it reverses the polarity of the WHOLE Neck pickup. Sorry for the error.

Re: Les Paul Personal

Dude.....the Les Paul Personal/Professional/Recording Model is a/are very misunderstood guitar(s). The pickups are lower output (in their hi-imp settings) than normal humbuckers, so they don't overdrive amps as easily as the hi-output humbuckers do. So, that means that all the hi-output-pickup-using morons who NEED to have distortion will ignore this guitar. Oh well...guitar technique is a long-dead concept anyway, so no harm done. In the early '70's, one issue of Guitar Player had a floppy record inside, which had a fantastic demo of the amazing sounds this guitar could make. If you can find it, or a copy of the recording, you'll hear how this amazing guitar can speak. Alas, these guitars were/are not popular, but just wait a few years, and all those guitar-collecting assholes, who speculate, and buy up all the nice pieces will have some... and charge outrageous $$ for them, when only a few years ago you couldn't even GIVE the goddamned things away!!! lol
Hope this helps.

'71 Les Paul

Any Advice? My husband has found a '71 Les Paul is great condition in a local pawn shop. The owner is asking $1200 - is this a good deal? My husband thinks it is, but he's by no means an expert. Anyone out there know the value of a great condition '71?
