Very first 40th Anniv. Vintage Replica, serial 9 9001

I own the first one of 40th Anniversary Vintage Replica,
of course, the serial is 9 9001.
This guitar is also the very first Aged Les Paul, paineted and aged by
Mr. Tom Murphy.
You can see this guitar on the official Gibson home page,
and the advertisement of the shop,Vintage World.
This 9 9001 was displayed at the 1999 NAMM show.
I think this guitar is highly collective, and hisotrically
significant one.

Now,i would like to know,
How much do you pay,if you want to collect this guitar?

Which one do you own?? As I understand it, that store ordered a second guitar with a similar top to be refinished and reaged and was also numbered 9 9001. Being that there were then 2, how could anyone know which #1 they were getting??

The 200 or so guitars in that run sell for between $7000 and $10000 on average... While yours is a collector's peice it is still a guitar so I would have to know more about it individually... What does it weigh exactly, what is the top like, etc... I have never seen pictures of it so right now I can not say... I tried to email you directly for this but the email was returned... If you could, email me the details and the pictures and I will let you know exactly what it is worth...

THX,
Brett

Well the value of that guitar can vary widely depending on your documentation. That serial #, while attractive, may not be the first one issued. I have a reissue LP ending with 000. So you have to have documentation at being the first one. But the problem is that you have(possibly) the first issue of a guitar series that is not popular at this time. And with the 50th anniversary issues coming out, the 40th anniversary model will take an immediate back seat. For now it might be worth what you paid, plus 25%..maximum.,,but even that is a stretch. If Murphy retires, then it will be of greater value. Good luck.
