Les Paul invented the first solid-body electric known as the Gibson Les Paul, then came along Leo Fender who invented the Fender Stratocaster(the model T of guitars).
I say model T because it was the guitar made that everyone could afford. FYI Les Paul also invented four track recording which led to multi-track recording used now...
