the acoustic guitar was invented in the 1500's, because people wanted a bigger variety of sound than the string instruments of the time. however there wasn't one true inventor, because there have been so many models produced over the past 500 years, that no one can take credit. Maybe look into someone who made their own version of the electric guitar to get some insight. (Leo Fender, Les Paul)
