A LP Personal doesn't have to sound quiet...they came with a special impedance-matching cord with a transformer built into it. so they could be plugged into a standard amplifier as well as a studio board.

They are among the most versatile solidbody guitars ever made, sound-wise. It is sheer BUTCHERY to put standard HBs into one and take out all of that circuitry, and whoever does it should be strung up and his guts be used for garters.
