They're generally tuned B-to-B, which is a little slinkier, or A-to-A, which is stiffer, but brighter & some say easier playing with other guitarists. Sometimes C-to-C for really low sound & very slinky action.String gauges something like .016 -.080.
John Sebastian talks about baritone guitars he uses in an interview at Warmoth & WD Music Products make bari necks for mounting on a tele or strat for an instant bari guitar. . . or find a cheap tele or strat in the paper, order a neck & you've got a bari for less than a new bari. Stay tuned! Simon
