I listen to the chilipeppers a lot, im just wondering how john gets that funky sound out of his guitar. obviously because its a stratocaster, but is it the model or any accessories that he added? if there are any pickups that might get close to that tone, id like to know

well he uses only vintage strats and telecasters from the 50's and 60's but i think most of that funky tone can be acheived through techniques like 'staccato' or twanging the strings onto the fret board when playing single notes.
you see he tends to play quite agressively if you watch any live shows.
