Can you please help me research this guitar that bought over ten years ago. I have not found any information on this maker and brand. The guitar is classical / nylon 6 string, Brand name is "Orpheus" Modell C131/ serial 92 13065 ..it says made in Gremany….The body is solid Cedar, neck is ahard wood type? I have taken it to many music store from L.A. to the Centeral Coast. While visiting them, not one music store knows any thing about this guitar. it’s made in Bulgaria. Orpheus is the name they used for export guitars. Ones traded inside the country was named Orfeus. Usualy is not worth too much. maybe around 150-200 euros.

: Help! Have been searching for any info. on an Orpheus classical guitar

I have one! No idea how old it is, but I’m guessing 50-80 years. I first got it in 1964 and it was old then. I wouldn’t call it a ‘classical’ guitar though it does have a classical-type head. The label inside just says "Orpheus Guitar Perfect Scale Perfect Tone". If you have found out anymore about them, drop me a line.

I have an Orpheus Resonator guitar that was purchased in Tucson, AZ several years ago. I was told, and found some info then, that it is from the 1930’s and was a brand sold in certain Department stores. It was manufactured in the USA and has a label stating such. I know there were some foreign makes from the ’60’s that used the Orpheus name, but these are not affiliated with the USA made Orpheus of old. They are not worth a lot of money. : : : Help! I Have an Orpheus that I was just given with a certificate inside the original Guitar case from the Ins. of Music dated 1936. The owners parent bought it for him new in the early 1930’s. It only says Orpheus on the head. It has gold liefs on it. It has all the scales on the bridge and as far as scaratches – there are none.

Would like to know where to go to get value? Help the guitar challenged ;~)

I have an Orpheus steel string guitar. I bought it in about 1968-1970 from a music store in Edmonds, Washington. It is Japanese made. The body was copied from a Martin dreadnaught I think. I remember comparing it to a Martin D-18 in the same shop. It has a very narrow neck. It doesn’t have the bass resonance of a Martin, but it plays well and has good action. The neck has held up over the years. It stays in tune for years. It is a pretty guitar with a very fine grained spruce top. Other than a little bowing of the top back of the bridge, it is in fine shape. Mahogany back and sides. Ebony fingerboard. No neck problems in over 30 years. The headstock is black enamel with a beautiful ornate decal between the tuners and the name Orpheus at the top. I have subsequently been playing a 1940 Martin O-18, but have been thinking about putting an electric pick-up in the Orpheus.

For what it’s worth, my first guitar (purchased in 1962) was an Orpheus. It was new, made in Japan, and retailed for $35 — obviously a "student model." Although it was nylon string, it wasn’t really a "classical" per se, as it had a solid (not slotted) headstock, a painted rosette and was very sturdy. As such, it was the perfect first guitar for a kid who might drop it down some stairs; easy on the fingertips but not likely to crack or break.

I don’t know if they also manufactured "better" guitars as well — this was the only Orpheus" I ever saw. I sold it to a girl in Santa Monica in about 1966. I’d say there’s a good chance that’s my old guitar discussed below (with the McCabe’s sticker added.)

              cheers,

              Tom Ball

I have an old Orpheus classical guitar. I got it from my grandfather in 1963. I still have it. I don’t think it is a high quality instrument; but it was good to learn on. I have not found any web info on the history of these guitars. I would also like to know more about their history.

i have a orpheus vintage knock-off of a giblson es335 hallow body. It plays great, after i replaced the frets and dropped some fender noiseless teli pickups into it (i work a t guitar repair shop in Phx). It origonally had a version of a p-90 pick up in it. When i had to redo all the wiring i found out that this guitar must have been from the late 50’s or early 60’s beacuse the wiring was outdated, the grounding system was made of metal and looked like a loom in a car that goes over all the other wires to make things look simple. other wires were covered with metal mesh over the hot wires. I have been trying to find info on theses guitar with little luck.

My Orpheus Classical guitar was made in Plovdiv, BULGARIA, 1975-1985. It has a Purple label inside of a Greek Harpist.
The label plainly says ORPHEUS PLOVDIV. It is in Russian so I had it translated. On the Headstock is a decal that says ORPHEUS.
I am in the midst of getting it playable again. I honestly feel it is not a high quality guitar, but I will not know until I have a nut installed, new tuners, a bridge and strings.
I feel as a Collector, it’s cool to own a Bulgarian guitar made by the KREMONA FACTORY.

        Anonymous

i was just recently given an orpheus double cutaway hollow body guitar and as far as i have been able to tell it is a Japanese manufactured guitar from the 60s there was another Bulgarian guitar manufacturer in roughly the same time period by the same name although some of their guitars will use orfeus instead of orpheus. the one given to me was said to be my great great grandfathers towards the end of his life that he purchased from montgomery ward, the guitar is in near perfect condition with a beautiful sunburst. i am still trying to find more information about this guitar but thats what an hour of research has turned up.

I downloaded my manual from the Fender web site. They have numerous downloadable user manuals for their products. You have to scroll through for the Acoustasonic Jr. manual. They have it for the Acoustasonic Jr. with DSP but my unit is older without the DSP you just have to scroll further down the list to find it.

I too went looking for the non DSP manual for the A junior, best I found was on the Fender.com site and basically the DSP is the same with the added Effects stuff. I wanted the info for the loop effects send and return and the back input jack , it had some good info on the TPS (tip/band/shield) plug configuration for sound re-enforcement input into stereo system and the loop return.

Still looking for a basic manual for the original Acoustasonic Jr. good luck
