I also have a red SWG Stinger, which I bought used in San Jose in the early 1990s. Mine has a sticker on the back saying it was made by Sigma Guitars, which is a bargain label used by Martin (they just discontinued it this year in fact).

Mine has served me very well as a learning/knockaround electric guitar (I'm primarily a bass player). Doesn't have the tone of a better guitar, and doesn't hold tune well, but otherwise is fine.

: : I have an SWG stinger guitar that I bought on an auction a few years back, this is what I learned to play on. It has a Made by Martin Sticker on the back. I have heard of martins befor and that they are nice. I was wondering If any one knew any facts about my axe.
: I had a swg stinger electric guitar, red that i got for christmas sometime in the mid to late 80s. if memory serves, it was a 'value' division of martin guitars...like squire to fender/ epiphone to gibson, ect. i sold it to a pawn shop here in memphis years ago...wish i never had. wonder if you have my old guitar? ;-)

Yes, I picked up an old SWG Stinger from a pawn shop in Boise 2 yrs ago, beat up black body But the neck was a blond in great shape. I had an old red fender strat body with a bent rosewood neck, So they met and "wow" I love it! I still have it, It was like it brought the guitar to life. the action is beyond compare.
Custom blk pearl pick guard red speed knobs and supper slinky red strings, wow it is nice !
