Italian luthier Tranquillo Giannini set up shop in Brazil way back in the year 1900 and the Giannini family is still in business in Brazil today.
As well as producing their own hand crafted series of acoustic guitars, they also import a wide range of instruments, effects and accessories, amplifiers, electric and bass guitars, violins and even craviolas.
Today they also export their instruments to the United States, Paraguay, Chile, Italy and Portugal.
You can also join them on Facebook where they have over 80,000 fans, or follow them on Twitter.
Trying to gather some info on this guitar. Namely age and value. Guitar is in very good condition with very light markings from normal use.
I have a Giannini GN50 .. serial number is J1645. Very good condition, soft case, nylon strings (one is unstrung.) Some of these I’ve seen on-line are quite valuable, others more in the 300-400 range. I don’t know that date for that serial number — it was in my parents house when i handled their estate and have no other information.
Help?

I bought this guitar new, in London, England in about 1974. It’s been in a case for most of the last 3 decades, but is still a beautiful, carefully treated guitar. Anyone out there have a price? Anyone want to buy it? I’d love for it to go to a really good home where someone will actually play it well and love it.

This popular thread has been given its own page : Re: gianini guitar model awn50 value?
I learned to play on this same Giannini in 74 and still have it. It’s a Giannini 3/4 size travel 1974 AWN50 Classical guitar. Mine was purchased new by my mother and the tags read "Jose Feliciano Plays a Gianinni". It’s a Brazilian made instrument often made of cedar & mahogany, imported beginning in the early 50’s by Westbury. Giannini actually made some or all of the Baroque guitars for Westbury. I love my guitar and the way it sounds. It’s been everywhere w/me. It’s got to be more valuable than a Yamaha and certainly better than a Harmony. I like my little Harmony too. I’ve had this for so long, I’m starting to play it for my grand kids & I was a teenager when I got it. There’s the value

Actually, they speak Portuguese in Brazil. I believe you are referring to the 6 String Nylon Craviola. The suggested retail price today is $630 new. However, it is important to note that the new models (produced in 2004) have been re-engineered, the body structure has been improved, has a reinforced neck, an adjustable truss rod and it comes with a B-Band 3 Band preamp.

I have a 12 string acoustic Giannini, model AWS680, circa 1974 – made in Brazil. It has a broken ( cracked ) neck, but otherwise is in good condition. It can be fixed by a professional. Any idea what its value is?
I tend to disagree with some comments here about VINTAGE Gianninni’s not being worth much. This is not true, especially if you have a old one that’s absoulutely superior in sound to alot thats out there. Keep in mind the older Giannini’s were made by master hands. I agree that not all of them deliver but there are exceptional instruments out there. The older models buy the way WERE NOT LAMINATE, they are solid. John.
I just got GN 60 at a yard sale. Put strings on it serial # D111 . It is the best guitar I have played better than an old Martin do you know how old it is? Im shocked at the sound thanks John O

I have a Giannini that is a great sounding guitar with great action but it has a plywood top. Only identification is the date inside, 16 Jan. 1974. Were plywood tops common? Seems strange since the sides and back are booke matched Rosewood.
Looking for a hard shell case.
My cousin gave me this guitar about 11yrs. ago,I just recently took it out of its case, I put new strings on it.It is a mid body nylon string guitar.I would like to know how much it is worth, I cant find any serial number on it but at the end of the guitar on the neck it reads Giannini in cursive and right below that it has 1900 on it and their is a sticker inside the body that says Giannini, the sticker is maroon with gold lettering.I beleive that his father gave him the guitar but other than that I dont know were it came from or purchased. But if any body has any info. on how old it is or how much its worth I would appreciate any kind of input on the Giannini Guitar, Thank you.
Could you tell me what the guitar is worth?

Hello
I have a Giannini guitar bought in 1974 for £36, and it is superb, irreplaceable, and priceless.
A couple of years ago I tried to buy someone a new guitar as a present, with a budget of £550
and went through a series of stinking, braying
instruments, (stinking of perfume from inside, and braying with a resonance about like the first wire-wound string, dominated any other notes).
Those were not Giannini guitars.
Giannini guitars seem to have declined in quality and value, over the years but if you sincerely think that yours is a good one (sorry for the breakin the message) then hold out for a good price.
There are so many tests for a good guitar that there is not room or time to go into that,
but to give an analogy it is like viewing with
good binoculars, which focus perfectly so that one is entranced by what they show.
With a good guitar every chord which you make has a special and distinct richness and value.
Free advice
Never change the stings of a guitar unless they break. New strings take months if not years to settle.
I only wrote to you because my particular Giannini guitar is so good.

I have a Giannini 12 string model AWKS12 made in 1977. Does anyone know anything about this guitar? Is it a good brand?
Hello
I don’t know much about it, but I also have an AWKS12 from 1977, it’s no8.
It’a brazilian guitar called "graviola" which means it’s a cross-over instrument. Grave=harpsichord, viola=guitar (I think). As you know, it has a very nice tender sound.
