If u want a gutair with amp between 100-150 dollars u are going to get one crapy gutair and amp. they would hardly work and have big gashes in the gutair’s finish so it would be worth nothing. u want a gutair that will last it should be $300 or more.

I also have one that was given me. I picked up a DiMarzio pickup for it and some D’Addario electric guitar strings (acoustic strings were too rigid) and this thing sounds AMAZING! I’m not able to find it anywhere on the web, but I feel like I have the best kept secret out there. It sounds a lot like a Martin. Enjoy it my friend! I know I will.

Just picked up one of these guitars today. I’ve never heard of this guitar until today, but it has a great sound, excellent low to mid range, really nice size neck for smaller hands. If you see one of these, grab it!
Wow this is weird. My grandpa passed away in 2005, and for this last Christmas I got a Chenault guitar from my grandma that was my grandpas. The weird thing is it has the same model # as yours… I’m not joking at all ethier.

All have same Model Number. They were made in England. I bought mine for $ 500 each; but had trouble getting them in the mail undamaged. It took numerous shipments to get the two good ones I ordered. I was told they were made to play country music; but everyone that plays them, loves them. It has a great sound. I gave away one of them to a friend. These are cool guitars. Guess I should try to find the original flyer from the place where I purchased them. Sounds like they may have been discontinued from all the comments. I believe although the Model Number is the same and located directly inside, I believe they have different Serial Numbers, if you look sideways inside the guitars.

It is of about the same quality as my 30-year old Yamaha FG-140 – neither of which I would sell – unless someone made me an offer that I just couldn’t refuse!

I received the chenault from my Aunt July 2008, I do not have a clue were she got it, I changed out the pick-ups and put some old fender picks in it and boy does it sounds great (action and all). Hey man I bought my Chenault from a pawn shop…I have never heard anything about it either….all I know is its weird that no one has ever heard of these wonderful guitars and no one knows how much there worth….

I have two of them. They all have the same Model Number. They cost me $ 500 each. I love the sound and the second one I bought for a friend. The original advertisement said they were created in England and were meant to play Country Music. That’s the reason I bought them in 2006.

I bought my chenault guitar in a pawn shop, I have no background information on the guitar or brand, but it is nearly identical to the fender stratocaster. I suppose this is the 3rd in the world?

I purchased a few thousand of these for my company between 2002 & 2006 from China. We were very please with the quality as we specified the materials etc. Glad you like it.
I have a Chenault electric Stratocaster copy I bought online cheap. Can’t remember exactly where I got it, but I can’t find any information about it, and now I want to sell it. I bought some guitars last fall that had no name on the head stock with the model # HHGUITAR3. The stickers inside the guitars said MAXAM since 1950 with the model number. That was all. I was able to find HHGUITAR1 & HHGUITAR2 (which was only the 1 with a case). This guitar was made of lamenated wood. I emailed the site about the solid top guitars that I had. I was told that they were discontinued. Since then I found the Chenault in a friends guitar store. I was glad since I already knew that it would have a good sound. Sorry I don’t know any more.

I bought an electric Chenault strat last week, and, like y’all, I can’t find out where it was made. It appears from reading this thread that Tennessee, England, or China is likely. No one I’ve spoken with has ever heard of it. Did anyone here ever find out more?
About 20+ years ago my late husband ( God love him ) wonted to learn how to play the guitar. My oldest brother Jimmy ( played semi- profession county and bluegrass ) went with us to a music store. He saw the Chenault and that was the one. My brother ,who was born in the 40,s, said it was made in Tennessee (he told me where but I forgot). He said there was only about 100 made and the hillbilly stamp with the number inside the guitar on the neck top was the order they were made. I have an #11. Other then Chenault logo there should not be any markings on the outside. This is the best sounding steel guitar ever made. By the way we are from North GA. that’s why these guitars were familiar to our guitar playing boys of old. I’m not sure of the models age or when and why Chenault went out of business. Personally IF I ever sold mine I wouldn’t take less then a $1,000 and made sure I sold it to someone who loves playing on the best guitar ever made.
I have this same one ever one else has. Maybe they only made so many the serial # is the same but I have a 4 on the piece of wood directly below the label. Maybe they were numbered individually to keep up with how many was made.
I just picked up one of these for $23 from an auction Haven’t played it yet but it looks to be an interesting guitar
Recently purchased a rare Chenault acoustic guitar with the sunburst for cheap, and it sounds amazing. Inside is the model YHHGUITAR2 but if inspected closer inside right below the the model #, there should be a number written in pencil. Mine is 12. The guitar is well made and sounds fantastic. No information on the web whatsoever about the company or where it was made. It looks like a Martin, has a low to mid sound, looks expensive. I have seen them sale for up to $600.00 Dollars some say Tennessee, others say England, and still yet, China. They’re from the 70s- 80s and it could be why the quality of the guitar is much higher. Next week I’ll be heading to see a guitar dealer at Competition music in Fort Worth, Texas. If anyone has an answer, I know he does. If not, there won’t be another reply.
I came across an old Chenault YHHGUITAR2 as well. There is still no reliable info out there about when or where it’s made. My guitar tech says definitely not USA made based on a number of factors. Likely Asian.
I purchased my used Chennault today from a pawn shop. Bought it for $89.00 plus tax… When I first saw it, the 3rd and 5th strings were missing. The remaining strings were what I assumed, the original strings. They were tarnished and just looked OLD. I picked it up from the stand, the second thing I noticed was the SOLID feel of it. I looked it over for a few minutes …then I plucked the top string, although it was a very old string, the projection was awesome! I knew right away that I had found a gem. When I got it home I put some D’ Addario lights on it. Wow!!! It has a few blemishes and a small damage chip on the bottom edge, and a few scuffs, but over all, a beauty. Love the intonation and the resonance. Luck comes to a person when they least expect it. I have always been a Alvarez lover, but maybe I have a new love…Chennault baby..lol. The model number you have seen is just that, a model number. Every Acoustic Chenault that I have seen, heard about or read about has that same number #YHHGUITAR2. Some folks are reporting (on different websites) that they are made in a small facility in Tennessee. Others are reporting that they are made by the Yaja Musical Instruments Factory in Guangdong, China. Personally, from the sound quality that is produced I tend to believe the Tennessee facility is where they are made. Now if the guitar was named a Chennault, I would have no trouble believing that the guitar was made in China. Because or General Claire Chennault and his Flying Tigers and the roll they played in turning back the dreaded Japanese from China and other countries of the Asian Pacific Theater during WWII. But make note of the single “N” in the Chenault name, compared to the double “NN” in Chennault, of that of General Clair Chennault. I too have one of these guitars and am as perplexed as anyone else about this matter. The guitar does have a trade mark emblem inside it next to the name so, the patent office may be the next place I search to try to find a name of the patent holder and place of origin.
My wife bought me a chenault guitar model #yhhguitar2 for a Christmas present 5 years ago. On the inside on the back of the neck it has the number 25 then a symbol of a witch or a hillbilly then the number 26. I sure would like to know what these numbers mean. It is the sunburst and it also has a pick holder on the front of the box with the name chenault engraved in gold letters. If anybody could let me know anything about these guitars I would appreciate it.
I just found out where the chenault guitar was made. I had the answer all along but didn’t know it. On the back of the neck right below the tuning keys is a small gold oval with black letters that says made in china. So there you have it.
I have looked all over the guitar and can’t seem to find the “Made in China” label. I’m wondering if they have multiple sites where they produce them. But I have no idea.
The chenault is made in China by a company named Yaja Musical Instruments Factory in Guangdong, China.
My 13 year old son bought a guitar and amp at a yard sale for 5 bucks. He thought it was a strat and it looks almost the same but it is a chenault. We can’t find any info except that they were made in tennessee and are worth up to $850. can’t even find a serial number on it. does anyone know anything about these guitar?
I have one of these, bought it as a gift. Never used, it is worth $400.00 but I am selling it for $150.00. Problem is, no one seems to have ever heard of the name. Neither Ebay nor Amazon. The original outer box was destroyed, it’s in a different guitar cardboard box. It comes with picks and strap. Anyone who’s interested, contact me via email.
