Re: MINERVA GUITARS
: : I'm probably the guy who contacted you, looking for a Minerva; they were made, I'm told, by the American Guitar Company, for Sears; they also made a cheaper model, also for Sears, called the Stella. My uncle bought a Minerva in the late '30s/early 40 from Sears, and it has been irretrievably lost, so I'm trying to locate a replacement, as it has great sentimental value to me.
: I have a 1932-34? Minerva archtop (sunburst) which was given to my father for 15th birthday. I believe his mother purchased it from Eatons in Toronto. To date I have been unable to determine the maker or current value. Any info would be appreciated.
Would you be willing to email me a photos(s) of your Minerva please? thanks!

--- In 1936,my father was given (for his 16th birthday)a tobacco sunburst Minerva six string in a cardboard fitted case with a padded leather handle. His parents ordered it from the Eaton's catalogue. It came from Toronto all the way to the Ottawa valley, and my Dad used to say he was very excited about this guitar. He never became a professional musician but could always pick and strum some plausible cowboy songs and Christmas tunes. He always enjoyed this guitar and was still playing it in his eighties. In the sixties, when I had delusions of being a folk singer, this Minerva was my first guitar. For the sake of more accurate tuning I replaced the tuners with modern chrome ones, but I still have the original brass ,steel and black bakelite ones. I can find no information on the guitar itself except the green white and gold Minerva decal. The Minerva has a crisp, bright tone, almost tinny. I cut down the bridge a bit to make it easier to play.I suppose this information doesn't really help anyone, but that's all I know.Naturally I have absolutely no intention of parting with this guitar.
Best wishes.
