my battery holder inside my Legend is not attached to the body. How do I attach it? There is a screw through the body which appears to go into a plastic cover that is inserted into a rubber wheel-like piece on the back of the battery holder. But the screw doesn’t grab anything and the the battery caddy doesn’t stay in. Do I need a part? Are parts available? thanks!

  7. SHS SMX 3750
    tim welter

I bought an SHS SMX 3750 powered mixing amp that doesn’t work. After pulling it apart, I noticed the main circuit board is fried. Can this be fixed or replaced by someone other than a technician? Wondering if I can buy a new board and solder the parts onto it. Have fixed these before, but don’t know where to get this particular board. I did email SHS, so am waiting for a response there. But the board number says NO:368 Rev:1.1 3-power amp. Would take a lot of work resoldering all onto a stripped one, but has to be cheaper than complete if can get it.
    Thanks,
    Tim

Hey, your post is from 8-2006… I dont know if your still looking for info on your Jackson fusion std but here’s what I know. I bought mine used back in the mid 90"s. It is in fact made in Japan but it’s still a very high quality made axe. hence the word professonal… I paid $500 U.S.A bought it used from a small guitar shop in FTL, FL… The guitar shop owner said at that time that this guitar list for $1200. mine also has the locking neck w/ a floyd rose tremlo. over the years I lost the 3 blocks and screws that lock the strings down above the first fret cause I dont really like that fine tuning with the dials. Im pissed cause I want to order these parts but I dont know what size the screws are and every one I ask (Guitar shops) dont seem to know. I cant find no info on the web for the fusion. I cant even find a damn phone number or a customer service # or email for Jackson…. I would think that guitar center would have a service manuel for Jacksons guitars but they dont have any info for fusions… I even dropped floyd rose an email cause these screws are actually part of the tremlo but they never responded back… Anyway , I dont think there are very many fusions out there so I think we should hang on to ours for a while because they are rare now and they can only increase in value… providing they stay mint… I love mine and I love to play it more than any other guitar that Ive ever jammed on. I used to love fenders strat but now when I when I pick up a strat it’s like playing an acoustic (the neck is huge comparred to the jackson). I dont know what level guitar player you are but if your not in a band (like myself) and you just jam in the house you gotta check out this awesome effect box that does everything , I mean it is **** ing awesome. The name is Pandoras box by Korg Tone works… It’s a little bigger then a cell phone and it has over 70 preset effects (distortion, reverb, phaser, tremlo, compressor, etc) , 8 different amp sounds and cabinets, digital tuner, a drum machine w/ s**t load of drum presets,…. you can even hook up headphones and elimate your amp completely. I take it on trips with me… you can find it on ebay $150 new or $90 used… my buddy has 12+ pedals and a s**t load of wires and he carts all this s**t over to jam with me. he was so impressed with the pandoras box he found his used for $90 on ebay. he also bought one for $50 they make for the bass guitar. Alright man, take care of that fusion , email me if you like [email protected] Im JJ in T.N.

      1. Re: jackson professional fusion std
        g

Jackson Fusion Std. I have still has the Made in Japan sticker on it! The floating bridge on mine is a "Jackson" but is made by Schaller.

As for the locking nut? See if a Schaller parts kit works, or do a Google on Jackson guitars, I was on the site not long ago (albeit, there was no mention of this model). Nice guitar, far better than my playing deserves.

          Greg Gibbs

Domino guitars are cool, and collectible…the best part is that most of them can be had around the 2-300 price range, I even find the under 100.00 from time to time. The most collectible dominos are the California Rebel, and the the Fireball models. My interest lies in the Spartans, where they are rare, but usually I see 5 or so a year on Ebay, the Spartan Basses are super hard to find, I have only seen 2 online, and I own them both. I had eben seen a fireball that was kept in its original box and never played, think it sold for a measly 300.00. I like the Dominos as the were made fairly well, and they are so much better than the Univox, and tiesco counterparts. Luckily for Domino collectoers, there are many other brands like Conrad, Lyle, and even Epiphone that used the same parts, so parts are pretty easy to find. The Acoustics sell for super cheap, I once bought a fire damaged acoustic for 15.00 and had them just send me the Domino badge that goes on the headstock. YOU can email me pictures of your dominos, include your story, and I’ll post them on my webpage. [email protected]

You didn’t specify what gauge strings you use. If there’s a thinner gauge you’re comfortable with, try them, that should give you a little room for adjustment. Also, don’t press down too hard as you check the fretted note against the harmonic. You could make the fretted note too sharp.

    JO MONROE (via moderator)

RECENTLY A FRIEND GAVE ME AN IBANEZ AX. ITS THE SUPER STRAT TYPE BODY WITH THE 3 P/U CONFIGURATION , FLOYDE ROSE. IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY NICE AX & ALTHOUGH THE NECK IS VERY BADLY BOWED I DID PUT ON NEW STRINGS JUST TO HEAR THE SOUND OF THE P/U’S AND BODY. IT SOUNDS SO GOOD , I’M NOW DEDICATED TO FINDING A NECK FOR THIS BEAST. THE NECK HAD BEEN CRACKED AT THE HEAD STOCK NEAR THE NUT (COMMON?) & WHO EVER OWNED IT PUT EPOXXY & PLASTIC WOOD IN THE CRACK!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM IF FACT IT ONLY COMPOUNDED IT. I WOULD LOVE TO FIND AN IBANEZ NECK BUT I WOULD SETTLE FOR A REPLACEMENT NECK THAT FITS THE GUITAR. I’M LOOKING FOR A MAPLE FRET BOARD & IT IS A 4 SCREW WITH THE OLD STANDARD METAL PLATE TYPE OF SET UP AS OPPOSED TO THE LOW PROFILE SCREWS WITHOUT ANY PLATE (NECK ATTACHMENT). I HOPE I’VE BEEN FAIRLY CLEAR WITH MY DESCRIPTION. I AM NOT TOO FAMILIAR WITH IBANEZ SINCE I NEVER OWNED ONE BUT THIS IS ONE NICE AX & I’M ANXIOUS TO GET IT TOGETHER & PLAYIN’.

  19. Squire Strat broken Neck
    Todd Seager

I recently took the nectk off my 86 Squire Strat to check a serial number. Putting the neck back on i "bumped" it just above the part where the neck and the body meets, with the screws NOT in fully. This broke a small piece of the neck,if the neck was fully fastened the break which is surface (less about 5mm) could be sanded down. IS this a recommended procedure?

    1. Re: Ovation Celebrity Deluxe - Neck Separated from Body...
      Brad Burge

: A couple of years ago, my Ovation Celebrity Deluxe was leaning up against a chair in my room. It slid, and fell onto the carpeted floor relatively lightly. Unfortunately, this minor fall was enough to somehow separate the neck from the body. It didn’t separate completely, but the neck wobbles and so I unstrung the guitar and haven’t been able to play it since. Anybody know how to repair this?

I tried to repair a friend’s ovation with exactly the same problem. Considering how firmly most acoustics have the necks key jointed and glued or bolted into a body block, ovation has a very poor design. I was able to use a good glue, and made both a top and bottom block to aid in clamping the neck with a lot of pressure using a deep C clamp. In short, the glue held, but the wood on the soundboard separated as soon as I began to tighten the strings. So, now I’m robbing the electronics from the ovation and putting them into another acoustic guitar. This is the 5th ovation I’ve seen with this problem, but the first one I ever tried to fix. I’d also be interested to know how to do this repair. This guitar is both beautiful and expensive. It’s a shame they are constructed so poorly.

    2. Re: Ovation Celebrity Deluxe - Neck Separated from Body...
      Jeff Conner

I have an Ovation Celebrity CC057 and THe neck is separeated from the body. My friend’s dad re-glued it back on with epoxy. However, this did not last very long and now I am back where I started. The only thing I can think to do is clean it all out with some sand paper and some free time. Then maybe I can get the neck to fit flush again.

I’m sort of a newbie at the whole guitar thing. I’m more of a piano person and has always wanted to try my hand at the bass. I have a slight problem. My tone knob on the body of the bass is loose. Does anyone know if I should try to fix it myself (with advice, of course) or if I should get it fixed professionally? Please help.

    1. Re: Knob repair
      Chris (via moderator)

try takeing the knob off (just the know part, try pulling on it/ or look to see if theres a small hex screw to loosin the knob) the see if theres a nut, like a 6-sided nut, try tighting it with your fingers, the go to you back of guitar, or usnder your pickguard and hold the back of the intire knob unit, and tigten the same nut as before, there may also be a nut on the inside of the pickguard, in the back of the bass (under the litte plastic/metal protective door,) tighen that nut also. then put th e knob back on before putting the guard back and see it it’s tight enough, if so replace the pickguard/back guard and bass it up

      TammY

Japan – Matsumoko Factory (Matsumota City) -same company that made Aria, Westone, Vantage. Probably Made mid 60s to late 70s -not mass produced -quite rare -it sold for about $175 to $225 when new. It should be a high quality instrument that plays wondefully. Current resale not very high -maybe $250, but hang on to it a few years as Matsumoko made guitars are being recognised as quaity instrments, and you might get many $$$s.

  28. Ovation Battery Compartment
    Alex Hatcher

I recently bought a Ovation CS 257 with a 24+ EQ and the battery compartment must have been damaged because it fell through the case. I can see how easy it would be to replace the part but don’t know where I might be able to order it. If anyone might know where I can get a replacment I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Alex Hatcher

      Robert Spalding

If you’re ever want to sell the guitar, please let me know first. My ’75 (Yairi built) Angelica was stolen on 9-3-06. The DY 77 is the closet thing to it. Wrote most of my 60+ originals on it.

Hope all is well with you and yours-Robert Spalding

I also own one! I bought mine new in around 1978. Can’t recall what I paid but it’s present worth is around $900 to $1300. I would never part with mine. It’s as nice as a D-35 Martin.

: This guitar is in good shape. It was given to me new in 1975. Billy Gibbons liked the way it fretted, so my wife bought it as an anniversery gift. $500.00 new. What is the value now. Only a minimum of small scratches. Some wear on the neck as I have played it for 26 years. Can anyone help? And no, Billy did not own or sign this guitar… Thanks

Well 33 years and still playing my Alvarez Yairi DY77. No one ever gave the worth of it, but I did not ask for the reason of selling. Just curious. Is there a blue book for guitars like cars you can get to check on values?

Any body who likes Rouge over Jackson are idiots. Jackson makes top quality guitars, even there cheapest models have great necks and decent pickups. I hope the person who posted that crap burns in hell.

  30. Supertone guitar
    Tamara Johnson

I have a supertone guitar from my great grandfather. It is in a World War 2 case and was purchased about 80 years ago. I have no model number but it’s serial number is 528, I doubt that that is of any use. I just want to know what the general value of this would be today.

  31. floyd rose problems
    George

I’ve had an Ibanez S470 for a little over a year now, but this past summer it has developed a buzz on the high E and B strings. I can see that the problem is from the strings hitting the intonation bolts just above the saddle, but I am unsure of how to adjust the action of just these two particular strings to correct this. Can somebody out there help me out?

  32. Ovation composition????
    Jim

My question is simple. I need to find out about the construction of a certain type of Ovation guitar.

This guitar is a 12-string Ovation, purchased new in the mid eighties, and the problem is that the top has a crack in it. The reason I would like to know the materials in it is this. It at one time sported a crack large enough to slip a quarter into. The crack shrunk back, closedup a little, and I was wondering if there is a second layer of material on the top of the guitar, under the wood. That might account for the closure. Any info that any of you might possess would be most helpful. I will add my email address here, so feel free to write to me if you have any helpful advice or info.

    Thanks

  33. Tele nut repair
    Steve Perdue

Does anyone out there know how to repair,(not replace), a nut on a Fender Tele? The string grooves had been filed down years ago and I was wondering if they could be filled in with something and then refiled.I’m getting a buzzing sound on my top strings(low E ).
