I bought one used for $350. A STEAL! Played it and had to have it. Same construction, but no controls; just the pickup under the bridge. this one was an 85. It's my understanding these are the early handmade models by Yari. Everyone that plays it loves it. The newer ones aren't the same. For a while I played a newer one a friend had-no comparison.
It was one of those "picked it up and knew I had to have it" deals. I have a Rickenbacker that was like that too. Go into debt if you have to but by it when it speaks to you.

Hello, I bought my Yairi DY73CS back in 1985 it is a 1983 model it was new when I bought it, I traded in two other guitars and money to boot. The guitar listed for $900.00 I sent mine back to St. Louis Music and had a factory pickup put in it. It was called a natural responce pickup. sounds like that is what you have. Mine came back with a volume and tone control. Not a preamp model. I have since changed mine to a preamp... This guitar has only got better with age for it;s sound.... Try a set of Elixer strings.. They are without a doubt THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
