I just came into an Attila bass. It sounds rad, but it’s super heavy. It has a single split-coil p pickup, it’s neck through, and it really sounds good, but I can’t find any info on it eaither. If you come up with anyhing, let me know.

      Robert Bowers

I also have a Hoyer 12 string from 1950’s/1960’s. I agree about the sound. It is great. I had mine set up by a very good luthier and it is certainly the best 12 string acoustic I ever played. My guitar has no electrics and the top has a crack under the scratch plate. Did you know Elvis Presley played one in the film ‘Calofornia Holiday’?

        Eric

I have a hoyer 12 string, no electrics, with the same body shape as the Elvis one. I had it set up by a good luthier, with new machines. I acquired it in 1969, and it still sounds better than it has any right to! I think laminated construction isn’t a bad idea when dealing with those stresses. Eric

Are you interested in selling your guitar?

: I have an old I have an old concert size Hoyer 12 string, acustic electric that was originally purchased in Kassel Germany around 1965 for about US$200. It is not in the greatest shape because the ivory around the face is cracked all the way around. The electronics are pretty much useless. However, the action is lower (almost as low as my custom Jackson soloist pro) and the sound quality is better than anything I have ever played. I can’t find a 12-string that comes anywhere near it even with a US$3000 price tag. Does anybody know where I can find more information about this guitar. I think it is a hidden treasure but if no one else does, it is only because they have not played it yet. Low Low Action, No fret buzz, Full clear sound. Whoever made this guitar knew what they were doing.

I have an old Hoyer 12 string. I like the tone. Mine has no electrics. It is a heavy beast, so sitting down with it seems the best way to play it.
If you find any information about these guuitars please let me know. All I know so far is that they were made in Germany.

I have a Hoyer concert Guitar which I purchased in Goeppingen ,Germany in 1952 new. It in none-electric. It has adorned the walls of my home for all these years. It has not been played for many years. I would like to sell it. I would like to have an idea as to it’s value, and find a interested party.

I assume it’s worth a fair amount since it’s a 1966 model. The date inside is hand writen "12-22-66" mean anything to anyone? also has letters "BHO" above it

    PETER

I have a Hoyer guitar which looks something like a Gibson J200 which I bought in the 60,s new for about £70. It has a strange bridge arrangement with spring and rollers etc. I wonder if you know anything about it. Is the body rosewood? Could the inlays be real mother of pearl? The scratchplate appears to be tortoise- shell.Might you have any idea of its current value( it is reasonable condition)It has a narrow neck which makes it difficult to play.
    Cheers, Peter

I have the same guitar – I think – also purchased in the 70’s
for 77 guineas from a local music shop. It is sort of a
small bodied jumbo with a brass bridge and pearl inlays in
a very narrow neck with low action. Great tone though. Not made
as a model anymore although the HJ 100 12 string from Hoyer
is very similar(www.hoyer-guitars.com).No idea of the value
but in excess of £500 GB pounds I would guess.Could be one of

      anything more.

I have a Klira Rhapsodie c.1960 6-string for sale. The body is as a Hofner Senator (slimline, one cutaway.) blonde with lots of t/shell binding. Most of the hardware is high-quality replacement – Schaller pick-ups, new heads, solid bridge. Well set-up, great looking rock guitar. GBP 200

I have a 1965 or 1966 6 string, 3 pickup, tremolo Klira. It is minus the Klira emblem and one of the tuning screws is missing the pinion gear. It has "bruise" on the end of the body which was there when it was purchased in Syracuse, N.Y. at a music store, otherwise it is in pretty good shape. It was bought new for me when I was 14. I just could not play it and gave up on it a year later. I still have it. It never saw a performance. It has been in its soft case for many years.

I have a 12 string. I would like to know as well where they sell them.

          1. I have a Klira Bass that is solid body, rose wood neck ...
            Grant Koeller

My Klira bass is painted vintage red from about 1959 to 1961 it has 2 pickups, short scale, rose wood neck, that is narrow, it has two white plastic levers for pickup configuration, two knobs for treble and bass and volume control. It has a tailpiece and looks just like a fender jag. style. I got it at a pawn shop for $40.00, but the original tuners were broken or missing, so know it has a brand new set of Schaller machine heads. This bass rocks!
And it sounds great on Jazz, and Blues. it trully has that vintage tone!!

The Klira "Arkansas" Electric 4 string bass, painted vintage from about 1965. It has 2 pickups, short scale, rose wood neck that is very narrow, it has two white plastic levers for pickup configuration, two knobs for treble and bass and volume control. It has a tailpiece and the body shape is just like a fender jaguar. I purchased it at a pawn shop in Rome, New York for $40.00, in a cardboard box. The original machines (tuners) were broken or missing, so now it has a brand new set of Schaller machine heads. This bass really has that 60’s sound
and it sounds great on Jazz, Rhythm and Blues. It truly has that Rockin’ vintage tone!!

This bass really has that 60’s sound and it sounds great for Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, and Surf Rock.(The Venture’s, **** Dale) It truly has that Rockin’ vintage tone!! Sometimes, you find rare treasures in out of the way places. This Bass is a rare and collectable German made instrument in the same vein as a Framus or Hofner. Great action, playability and workmanship are evident. One of a kind.

I got a Klira Western Guitar in 1981. I was told that in around 1982 the wood storage of Klira got flooded by a river flood and they went bankrupt after this. They were based near Nuremberg, Germany.
