Just take photo’s of the inside and buy new pots as for switches haven’t had anyluck finding those. You can get pots at radio shack they might have witches too.

Radshak doesn’t carry the right pots or capacitors to repair/replace teiscos.

I have two teisco’s that I have never seen before maybe someone can help. The first is a perfect replica of a 68 strat and the other is a perfect replica of a 60’s sg. They both say Teisco on the headstock but nothing else.

The only way to know what your Teisco is worth is to put it on EBAY.com and see what someone is willing to pay for it. Right now, there are about 20 Teisco’s on ebay between $75 and $250.
The current Ebay completed auctions (last 90 days) shows Teisco’s from $36 (for a butt ugly but working single pickup) to $650 (for a very good et340 "surfcaster"). Clearly the model makes a big difference and if it still has the tremelo bar, it’ll be worth even more.
I have a et312 del Rey that my brother gave in 1965 when he bought his Rickenbacker. It still works fine and the neck is straight with good action. It sounds great and I wouldnt sell it for anything.
I hope this helps, but, seriously, teisco’s are immortal garage band axes. If you have one and you dont know what to do with it, give it to a kid that wants to learn guitar.

Don’t listen to Bob! Yes they are cheap guitars but some of us out here love them! I have an old Teisco which I bought for £15 (I’m in the UK) and I gig with it regularly.
Hell, if it’ll save the guitar I’ll pay the postage to the UK plus some beer money and you can send it to me – at least you’ll know it’ll get played several nights a week. That’s a serious offer!

I was given a Teisco Del Rey ET-220 from my father a few years back. He bought it when he was a kid but never learned how to play. It is in ok shape. The paint is chipped on a few areas and the bridge could use some work. I was wondering how much it is worth in this state and how much it would be worth after fixing it up.

Well, im an american living in japan, and i purchesed a nice Fresher rip off of a les paul for 5,00 yen(about 45 bucks) I love it. Considering that they where never sold in the states and the company stop maiking guitars in 1985, id say you might be able to get some good money for one, if you find the rite person.

The name of the guitar, Cameo, is on the headstock. It is 6 string electric f-top hollowbody with 2 pickups. Tone and Volume knobs have a "T" or a "V" respectivly on them. The pickguard is black. The color starts as a bright red and fades to black on the edge of the guitar. It is trimed in white all the way around. There is a whammy bar located to the end of the guitar. If you are interested in one of the most carefully designed guitars in the world then I have what your looking for. I own a 1964 or 1967 Teisco Del Ray Guitar. It’s Model number is 90 folks. Yes 90, one of the very first made. The serial No. and Model No. are on the back behing the ajustable neck on a nickle plate. Guitar is in great condition. Still contains the slides, 2 mic switches and and Bigsby. Few Guitars of this type were made with Bigsbys. I have had 3 or 4 offers and am considering selling it so make me an offer. I played Teisco Delray guitars as a kid and they were the best. Now that I play a Fender that has become a classic I wonder; what ever happened to that piece of crap Tiesco Delray that I played as a kid.

I recently got a Cameo bass (circa 1970?) with no markings other than "Cameo" in script lettering on the headstock. There’s no stamp of where it was made – it’s very short scale (shorter than a Fender guitar), has one single-coil pickup with exposed elements, black pickguard and dark sunburst finish (black around edges.) there’s a volume and a tone knob, and the G tuning peg is different from the others for some reason. I love it and play it a lot! I’d love to find out more.

In the mid ’70 I owned a cameo 12 string. Sure played nice. Wish I would have never gotten rid of it.
Hey! CAMEO guitars and basses were made by the Motsumoku Company of Japan in the 1980s!!!!!! They also gave us other classics such as; Westones,Aria Pro 2,Elektras,Lyle, and the 1970s Epiphones………..Dig It!!! Save those Cameos.I have the Deluxe Bass with case!!!!!!……Peace!

I have a very old guitar in very good shape, its a Cameo Deluxe. it looks exactly like a Teisco guitar. down to the sunburst gothic style body, black pick guard with white flowering on the borders. it has one pick up, a volume knob and a tone knob. its in extreamly good condidion, and works very well. I actually play it… all the time. I was wondering if this is some sort of collectors item as Ive never seen another like it. any information at all would be helpfull. its very old as I said, 1960’s most likely. Ok i posted a few days ago about this beautiful cameo guitar and I put made in Japan but that’s wrong I looked into the fret hole and it’s made in Korea and has a number 72-719 &found out through research it was made by Tewin but still need more info on it like the type of grain of wood was used to make it there are so many on the web it’s. hard to figure out what’s it’s value and being in original case with original strap and strings yes i also found out that many think most guitars were. made back the 1960+ era was done in USA or Europe not the case it was either Japan ir Korea. I know there many experts on guitars that have web sites but no where do I see a place to send info or photos to find out the history if the guitar so any help with this would greatly appreciated Thank You
Ok all need some info on this beautiful guitar.It belonged to my brother in law & we knew he had it but being I know nothing about guitars I did research .I know it’s in original case with original strap plus yes original strings.The guita has a number inside and yes it was made in Korea or I did take it to a shop and the neck is perfect not warped.no damage or even scratches .it is blonde with mahogany wood.The tuners are in unbelievable excellent conditions and are very shiny .I haven’t tried to clean it or put in type of polish to.shine it.I do know Patrick sorry that’s my brothers in law name got it back when he was. in the navy.He has now passed away and we came.acrosd it with some of his other archives. during his military days .I do know cameo company was taken over or sold to seagull but there are so many photos of the cameo but mostly are six strings..If anyone can help with the history or close to value not so much to sale but for certain items on home owners insurance I need to be able to put a full replacement value if at any such time god forbid a fire hurricane etc: Thank You and yes I have photos and the year he bought guitar would have been late 50 early 1960
according to the model number its an fs-8 it does say made in japan and its a cameo deluxe is all it says at the top its a standard 6 string, sounds amazing and my friend sold it to me for 30$ said he bought it for 40$ about 10 years ago and i have no idea what its worth but i really doubt id ever sale it anyway the bodys got damage on it but not for that reason i wouldnt sale it because its the first acoustic ive ever owned and it sounds amazing if you like deep bluesy sounds from your acoustic.

I also have a ET-200 its a lovely guitar with a sort of sunburst effect and irs very feminine because of its tulip shape. The pick ups sound amasing and its in really good condition. My guitar its self is Right handed but it was given to me when my nan died and the strings have been reversed which gives you easy access to the volume controls which is cool. All i know about the guitar is it was made in taiwan and is at least 30 years old… If can anyone tell me anything about my guitar i’d be greatfull.
: Hi Christopher; this is Dan. I buy junker Teisco’s and restore them as a hobby. I draw diagrams from each useable japan guitar I buy that looks stock. Is the ET-200 the one with a body with turned-out horns, kind of looks like a tulip? I know I did a full pickguard from scratch for a 200 years ago; had to use the "dirt marks" from old pickguard as outline. Might be able to help you. Also, the chrome ashtray piece you seek- is this a very rounded bowl shape, or more square-ish with rounded corners? I have been buying boxes of junk parts off the ebay which comes in handy for projects, and if the type you need is more square-ish with rounded corners, and all it is is a cosmetic cover- it does not really do anything- I think we can do a deal. I am not a guitar shop, just a guy with limited "toy money" that loves working on electric guitars, and the cheap japan guitars are easily had on-line, so I resto them and get my money back when I sell them off. I have a Inter-Mark IV yellow sparkle finish over entire body & neck/headstock.No name on headstock.Name on neck plate.This guitar is in great condition plays really well, missing trem bar.3 pickups ala Gillette razor style…multi-slide pickup selector/Vegamatic? I recently picked up an inter-mark guitar at a garage sale. It is a 2-pickup with that real 60’s Fender Jag look and a very thin body. It has 2 vol controls and a tone control plus 2 big white 3 way switches. Both the bridge and nut appear to be aluminum. The front pickup isnt working. I’m going to check out the pots, wiring and switches and see whats going on. The neck and frets are in great shape and the action is unreal. I think with some work, it could be a hot guitar. I would appreciate
any feedback or info you guys have regarding inter-mark guitars.
My parents bought me an Intermark guitar through Columbia Record Club, for around $250.00. It was a complete "kit" like those you can buy in most music stores today (Ibanez, Epiphone, Squier). I used it to play a lot of styles and it had a pretty nice sound. I played it through a Vox Beatle amp. Playing Hendrix burned up the pickups (at least I assumed it did), and I switched to a Fender Musicmaster guitar (which made a better Hendrix sound). In 1971, I was in Sam Ash Music in New York City (Manhattan?) and shortly thereafter bought two humbucking pickups and a set of Grover tuners with the intent of renovating the Intermark. I had already removed the tremolo bar because the guitar would not stay in tune. We removed the original pickguard and replaced it with a plexiglass one and rewired it for the humbuckers. Shortly thereafter I replaced the fretwire. It has pretty much remained the same until today. A few months ago, I pulled it back out, replaced the strings, and played it in church yesterday, through a Peavey amp. Still has the great sound (similar to an SG), but really good action. I am glad to see that there is at least one around. Perhaps they can still be found in attics or in collections. But I play mine and love it.
I have an Intermark guitar that my grandmother gave me. It is a semi hollow body with a red and black finish. I found a site that had the exact guitar, I believe it is Rareguitars.com. It was the only site I could find with a picture. Any way I took it last month to my local music store to have it restored. Everyone basically told me that it wasn’t worth the material that it was made from. I told them that it had sentimental value and to fix it anyway. Now I am not fantastic guitarist but I have been around and it has the best action I’ve ever played with. The sound is not a gibson for sure but for what it is I can’t believe how good it does sound. I’ve also had it back for a month and have not had to tune it once after the new strings stretched. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one become one of those few rare old collectors. If you have one I’d keep it for kicks to give to the grandkids. That is where mine is going.

I just got back from my grandma’s after Church today and went up in the attic and found an intermark guitar. it needs work. I’m going to get some grover tuners put on it, and i need a new pickgaurd and basically new hardware…It looks like it has been through a flood or two with all the hurricanes we have down here in NC, but i would really like to fix this up and play with my band, or sell it to get more equiptment. since they dont make them anymore, and i fix it up nice…how much do you think this thing would be worth? it has a few scratches in it, but theyre only on the sides and back…so they arent very noticeable. please message me back…i need another guitar for stage, haha.

In regards to your Inter-Mark guitar, I have a brother who bought a guitar in 1966 that was made by Inter-Mark. It had the name "Cipher" on the headstock. It was a redish color with dark possibly brown or blackish color on the edges and I would call it a red sunburst if that’s the correct thing to call it. It had if I remember , 3 or 4 large white plastic rocker swithes at the top side of the strings which selected how you used the pickups. It had 3 pickups that were a silver color that almost looked like plastic to me. It had a thin round vibrato bar that broke off in my hands one day and wasn’t ever repaired. I believe it had 2 but could have been 3 knobs just below the vibrato bar as most guitars of those years had. I always thought it to be just a cheap guitar from a Woolworths or W.T. Grant store. A lot of those $29.00 guitars were sold in those types of stores. I have a picture of my brother playing that guitar from around 1968. I’ve got nothing concrete just yet. I do have a couple guys that I’m trying to get in touch with that may have some information about the guitar. All I know so far is that Cypher is the japanese company who made the guitar in the early 60’s. It was distributed here in the US by Inter-mark. I’ll let you know if i get anything else. Intermark Cipher guitars are out of Japan. It’s interesting to note that they were built much better than the average teisco / Kawai etc. they also retailed for a lot more money than the average electric guitar import from the 1960’s. the design & attentional to detail as well as the hardware was generally of much higher quality than the average MIJ electric guitar 9 you can note that when you see a Cipher today the stainless steel has usually held up very well compared to the aforementioned models.
I believe the flagship model was called a Valor with 4 pickups & trem, the pick up switches are similar to Hound Dog taylors 4 pup Kawai but instead of being rockers they slide into on/off position.
For tone these guitars fall into that Ry Cooder / David Lindley signature sound. Very microphonic responsive. With the Kawai / Guyatone / teisco & similar badged imports sporting 3 & 4 pick up models escalating in price. often going close to & beyond a $1,000. Intermark Cipher has come out of obscurity. Compared to the other brands that sold new for half the price there simply aren’t that many Ciphers out there. Especially the top of the line 4 pickup models. At least one early owner remarked that he recalled paying $250 for either a 1965 or 67. Heck, you could get a Fender or Gibby for that back then. Obviously that is why you see so few of these guitars & when you do it’s more often the single or 2 pickup version.
Some say the Cipher design paid homage to many Italian builders ie EKO but they also had a lot in common with German electrics ie the Framus Strato line. Ciphers quality is certainly up there with many of the European models but note that early on Cipher ditches the use of the zero fret. this makes it a much more appealing to most modern players & collectors.
Intermark believed that had a quality guitar. As you can see the instruments are proudly stamped into the neck plates Japan, well before the USA trade laws required a permanent mark indicating Japan. Most manufacturers were still using that metallic Japan sticker that pulled off easily.
Some Intermark Cipher 4 pickup models with a known players name attached the provenance are currently reaching the $2,000 mark. I myself hold no special significance to a players provenance attached to any instrument. IMHO it doesn’t magically make that a better guitar.
I think it’s pretty clear that on it’s own merit the better model ciphers are going to attain the same selling power as the 4 pickup Kawai, teiscos, guyatones etc. I’ve seen some of those go for $750 to $1500 & the market for them seems stable. Perhaps their scarcity compared to it’s contemporaries, the manufactures attention to detail as well as it’s use of better parts & hardware along with the original retail price may allow Intermark Cipher to accelerate in in value even more.
I’m trying to find the current value of a 1960 Teisco del Rey guitar, model E-120. I got it (new) about 1960 … good condx … brown sunburst … metal pickguard with alternating smooth and "sandblast" stripes. It has 4 tuning pegs on one side of the headstock, and 2 on the other … single wound pickup … has serial number plate intact, etc.

The heit deluxe sunburst guitar is not worth fixing at all although it is vintage it is as worthless as an old black and white tube rca TELEVISION, you know the ones you see getting thrown away. Toward the end of the tiesco hayday they were given out at carnivals for prices such as konai island and other east coast amusements. There is one model (the one with the bigsby tremelo) that has an original metal plated stamp up on the top of the neck, this particular model is worth about $200-250, another interesting fact was the sears roebuck corp. carried these guitars on the east coast as for as west coast and midwest carried hohner and harmony and at one time even FENDERS! The necks warp very easy on these heits and most likely 9 outta 10 ive seen have major buzzing from incaved frets and cheap woops. The guitar was produced in taiwan at that time and costed $3 to make at that time and year. Thats why they were goven out for pennies for prizes.

I just bought a Heit Deluxe telecaster in TV yellow. This guitar sounds amazing. It has a real vintage 70’s sound. People are really crazy about it and are offering me hundreds for it. I haven’t seen another one like it anywhere. I don’t think there were many made or maybe not many left, but they’re hard to find.

I have a Heit Deluxe bass guitar. It is an electric hollow body with one pick-up, a fold over rear bridge/string bar, two S shaped cut outs, two finger rests for left or right hand players, fretboard inlays, string guide on the head between the tuners and nut, and two strap buttons. It is a sunburst, with a volume and a tone knob with a 1/4 amp input.

The very first electric I ever owned was a Heit Deluxe. This was 1976 or ’77, and it had a few years on it by then. It was a Strat looking thing with three or four pickups. I paid five bucks for it, stripped the finish, shot it with clear, and sold it for forty five (probably the first and last time I ever made any money on a piece of gear).
The overall quality of the guitar was low, and was typical of the guitars you could buy at from record and department stores at the time for under a hundred bucks. According to this article ( http://www.well.com/user/wellvis/gitinfo.html ), Heit Deluxe guitars were built by the Teisco del Rey company.
Is yours worth fixing up? Depends on what you’ve got. A quick scan of Google shows some people getting a few bucks for them. If you feel it’s worth putting some time and effort into, go for it.

I bought a Heit Deluxe from a consignment shop back in October. The action is tolerable, the intonation awful. The bridge (saddle) has no adjustment; it’s fixed, like an acoustic guitar. By putting a capo on the first fret and tuning down a half-step, the intonation improves somewhat.
The pickup, however, is one of the best I’ve ever heard. That’s why I put up with its other idiosyncrasies.
I took it to a local shop to see if its problems could be relieved. The resident expert was in awe. He had never seen an old worthless Heit that had survived for thirty years without some genius butchering it with modifications. He advised that the guitar is worth more as an historical artifact (and more so with the passage of time) than as a playable instrument. So all modifications are out of the question, as far as I’m concerned.
And one other thing in its favor: It looks great. It looks like what it is: a 60’s surf guitar. No guile, just style.
I have a Heit Deluxe. I fixed it up, and it plays pretty good…relative to the quality of a upscale beginner guitar in the $200-250 price range. Mine has 4 single coil pickups, each with an on-off switch. It has a zero fret and it originally had a cheap trem with a fixed bridge, kinda like a really, really cheap Bigsby vibrato. It is a 3-color sunburst with a black pickguard.
Here’s what I did to repair it: I took everything apart to start with. That was a learning experience 🙂 I determined that I would need to replace the tuners and the bridge. I ordered the parts from Carvin. I cleaned everything up. I also glued tin foil to the inside of the body cavity and the back side of the pickguard. It is not silent, but I’m sure the shielding helped. I noticed the neck pocket looked like it had a chip in it, so I used a mixture of wood and superglue to reshape it a little. It fit tighter, but it was still quite loose. More on that below. The volume and tone pots were very good in my opinion. Maybe not as good as most standard Strat pots, but still very tolerable. I put everything together and strung it up.
Some comments about playing…tuning is a little funny. It has a very loose neck joint, and it can be knocked out of tune very easily, even by putting the guitar on a stand. I was able to get a very good action the way I set it up. I had to adjust the truss rod a little, and the bridge is almost as low as it will go, but the action is pretty good. I actually prefer the way the neck feels on my Heit better than my brother’s Mexican Standard Strat.
All in all, I would say it is well worth the $55 in parts that I spent. It beats having no electric guitar. I would think twice before recording with it, though. The tuning can be frustrating. By the way, the pickups are the fattest, warmest single coils I have ever heard. It is great for some stuff, but ALL of the pickups are characteristically very fat, and it has about 2 sounds: FAT at the bridge and FATTER at the neck. The middle two pickups sound just about like the neck pickup.
I have a 60’s/70’s sunburst guitar with 4 single coils, each with it’s own bypass switch, a teisco stle trem and a bridge where the saddles can be adjusted side-to-side but not farward or backward, it’s got a kind of german-carve around the edge of the front of the body. The neck is made from about 40 lengths of wood side by side, it has a string tree for all the strings and a zero fret. It also has a tone bypass switch, lots of tone combinations, but I find the bridge and neck positions most interesting. It sounds pretty good to me, although I’ve never owned an expensive guitar – this one cost me £5 at a car boot sale.
Is this a Heit Deluxe? there’s no logo on the headstock which looks like a very vaguely drawn strat headstock.

I picked up a Fresher Mercury in Japan. It is red with stripes, a copy of the Fender Mustang. That is all I know. Does anyone have any information about when guitars like this were made? I know Fresher went out of busines in 1985, thats about it.

Made in Hollywood, Cal. It has a fuzzy red "polytone" logo on the front It looks to be 25-35 yearls old, it has a ’60’-70’s Brady Bunch look to it (sorry, but that’s about the only way to describe it) I am from the bluegrass camp, I bought this to resell and fund my pre-war Gibson banjo habit, if anyone has any info on these, value, etc. I would appreciate it very much, I can find nothing on the web about them. I’ve been following Polytones for a few months now. Primarily on ebay as of late. There’s been a number of the larger amps lately, 101, 102, 103, keyboard versions, even one of those with the side mount cabinets, but this is the first I’ve heard of a model 104; although I’d read about a bi-amped stereo rig of about 160 watts (which I think is the 103). I have a Mini-S15B myslef. As a rule, the bigger amps go for around $250. The brutes command better prices even in poorer condition. I’ve been surprised to see some of the old brutes in fairly rough condition go for over $300. Shipping costs can become an issue with the bigger amps as well so you have to figure that into the price. There are vintage enthusiasts out there so you really never know but, at least on ebay, I’d be surprised to see you do better than the $300.

I purchased mine new in ’78….virtually never used it…used smaller Polytone amps instead….Mint condition….could not tell difference from mine to factory unit…going to put on Ebay soon for about $400…see what happens!

I picked up one also but vibrato don’t work.mine has the knobs in the front of the amp faceing audience. there’s no model markings .it has 1×12 speaker .2 chan no distortionsilver,blue grill cloth, about the size of a fender bassman combo 4×10. could you send any info, schematics you may have. thanks james

I like it -its a amazing warm sound jazz amp.

I have an Alamo Titan that I was given. Its missing most of the tubes. Can anyone direct me to a schematic so I can get this thing humming?
Your Titan has 5 tubes : 1x5y3gt rectifier tube, 2x6v6gt power tubes, and 2x12ax7a preamp tubes.
As far as schematics go, I’m not aware of any, but you might contact Hector at the Acosta Musical Instruments Repair at 210-435-4558 for info about this amp.
I found a Newer model Teisco guitar at a Pawn shop. It has a Floyd rose tremolo, so I assume it was recently built. Does anyone know where I can find any info on recently constructed Teisco gutars?
Hi, if anyone has one of these or know’s about them I have a very strange problem. If you’ve heard them you know they sound unreal, basically a copy of a Vox AC15 more or less, with the cool addition of a tweed Fender style bias tremelo! That’s my problem: After the amp’s been on about 20 minutes and I’m playing the tremelo, it slowly goes away til there’s none left. Randy, what you will need depends on a couple of things: Do you want to play electric guitar or acoustic guitar? Also, will you have access to a teacher, or will you be teaching yourself?
I would expect to spend less than $300 on a student guitar (either electric or acoustic). If you get an electric guitar, expect to pay about $100 for a small practice amplifier and $10 for a cable. With either acoustic or electric guitars, you will need to purchase a case (as little as $30 for a soft ‘gig bag’ case) and other accessories like strings, picks, a strap, a tuner, and a cleaning cloth. You can get that piecemeal, or you could probably find a deal on a starter kit that would have all you need at a discount.
If you want to teach yourself, there is a wealth of resources on the internet. Use a search engine like http://www.google.com to find information about beginner guitar lessons and online tutorials. They are out there, and there is some excellent stuff available for free.
If you plan to have someone teach you, pay money for it. Don’t just find Joe Guitarplayer at church or enlist the help of a friend. Granted, the occasional tip here and there can be helpful, but if you are going to commit to lessons, a paid teacher will probably be much better than a volunteer. Guitar lessons can range from $10-$20 per lesson. The store where I teach charges $15 per 30 minute lesson.

My dad recently purchased a 1961 Teisco Del Ray electric guitar with a model number and serial number. The guitar is in almost primo condition and the color is considered a green burst I believe. Another guitar fan told him that they didn’t make very many of those in that color. Is there a website that would let me look up the value of this guitar without having to pay or buy something? I would appreciate your help!!!

Go to Ebay, there’s usually plenty of early 60’s tesico’s for sale there — that should give you some idea as to the value of it. Peace.

i just bought a 1966 teisco 112 and it is in perfect shape. it doesn’t have the origanal bridge but i am replacing it with a gibson stopbar to increase the sustain. it is really rare because most of them were two peice bodies with the seem runnind down the center of the front. mine is two piece but the seem is on the center side because it has a natual wood finish. great kick butt sound. i love it but i am still looking foir a univox hiflyer. my vintage guitar dealer said it is worth about $250. what do you think?

I was wondering what year my Guitar is it is a Teisco Del Rey (model# ET-460) it is metallic blue with a silver and grey aluminum pickgaurd. It has 4 pickups and a switch for lead, solo, or bass and 4 on off switches for the pickups. I was wondering what the model name is and how much it is worth. I recently purchased a Silvertone guitar. Can’t find a picture of this model anywhere. It’s a teal colored double cutaway, dot inlay, single p/u, 3-on-a-side tuners, "backgammon board" graphics on the p/u and "ashtray" covering the bridge. I will have a picture of it soon if you can help me figure out if it’s worth the $20.00 I paid. Oh, it has no serial #, just "D.I." in a circle, stamped in the neck pocket. Any ideas?
