I have an artical from vintage guitar mag about the Kasuga Guitar co. Tom Morris left the united states in 1968 to Japan with credits to start a guitar co. He approched the Tokia Musical insturment Co. to produce them . The production began to overwelm the Tokai so they approched the Kasuga guitar co in 1970 to continue production . These guitars are concidered to be better than most Japan models produced in the 70s I own a 1972 Tele Bass a one of a kind do to the fact that no Tele's were ever known to be produced or no records of them were kept. It is very playable and I do play it regulary . E mail if you wish to know more

Re: ?kasuga history

I was given last week a Kasuga Acoustic from a client last week. Raced home and threw on a new packet of nylon strings, and I have to say it has a really cool tone.
Kasuga model no:1118.
Does anyone know the history at all ?

With Respect

Shane

Kasuga Guitar - Model KC370

I have a Kasuga Guitar that was given to me. It is a Model KC370, still has the made in Japan sticker on it. It was made in 1972. The sticker says Kasuga Gakki on it, I guess that is the name of the manufacturer. It also then has a stamp in it that says "NW". Any idea of the value of this guitar?
Thanks,
Michael

Re: ?kasuga history

I have owned a Kasuga strat since 1993. Previous owner bought it new in the mid 70s (He bought a new US Fender, then he wanted the Kasuga back, but it was gifted to me by my wife so he couldn't have it.). This guitar has been played by many excellent musicians during it's life and they all like playing it. Bridge pickup has been replaced at some stage. This guitar far exceeds the playability and tone of any other Japanese strat copies I have played.

The Kinman pickups installed in 2004 are awesome (they don't hum, they have great tone, they make bad amps sound better and good amps sound fantastic)I recently tried it through a Fender Blues Deluxe reissue and the result was very pleasurable indeed.
Statistics :-
Ash body
Maple neck and fretboard
Kinman AVn HX pickups
