Re: Original 1976 Gibson FIrebird for Sale Bicentennial
The three thousand number is incorrect, if it was a limited edition (SN on back of headstock by tuners in gold inlay) it was only made in 1976 as a tribute to the Bicentennial. While the unexpected popularity caused Gibson to continue making them (they were supposed to be limited production-times were slow for Gibson) as far as I know only the "76 had the red white & blue "bird" in the pick guard lower front. Value of a 1976 + $2,500 approx. over other years. Also I was told the post 76 models had bolt on necks, not the original 1 piece "pass-through" like the '76
As a laugh the same year I could have purchased a brand new 20th Anniversary edition Les Paul Custom for $450 , should have sold my car & bought it :-) liked the Firebird better.
