I have a Bladerunner, electric blue in color (fades to black at the edges). My guitar looks like the one used in the Aerosmith/Run DMC video of "Walk This Way". It has a very nice finish and has been stored it its case for most of the time I have owned it (about 12 years) I also have the Guild Safe Case (trapezoid shape). What is your offer?

      Brian N

If anyone has one for sale or knows where to look I would appreciate it!

Anybody know where I might find one of these? I’m not casually interested. I know what they go for and I’m willing to pay it. Contact me if you have a lead.

: I am going to purchase a Bladerunner could someone give me any imformation on it? It is bright pink with cutouts.

I was involved with the original BR-1 design. I patented 4-5 designes back then Drew Derosiers was the primary dseigner. I sugested he adds the holes…next thing you know, he could’t handle the orders so he passed it off to guild. I was running a street rod shop and couldn’t help. Recently, Drew and I just spent the last years setting up an awesome shop to make them again, this time we have all the room we want. We have 100,000 sq ft. and are currently using 8000. I am offering 9 designs. I will email you with more details after I eat. http://www.americanguitarworks.com

      J:
I have a 71. I think it’s all original. Front is in very good condition. Some finish checking, a few dings and scratches. The back is in rough shape cosmetically. Neck has lots of play wear on back. Plays and sounds great. Original case in fair condition. If interested, I can take some photos. I’m not sure of a price yet.

Someone else here was also asking about this guitar. I have a limited edition version of the DV-72. It has turquoise and mother of pearl inlay on the fingerboard and headstock, and turquoise rosette. BEAUTIFUL instrument. One of the nicest sounding acoustics I’ve played. But I’d like to know more . . . i.e., an appraisal.

      Merry Christmas!
One year for christmas my wife surprised with with #40 of this series. I have been playing for over 30 yrs and been thru countless guitars (good, bad and great) and this one is by far the gem of them all. I play this one for all important occasions and I take better care of it than I do myself. If you own one I agree with Ed. DO NOT SELL IT! You will regret it one day I promise.

    2. Re: Guild DV-72 NT HG -Turquoise
      Ed R. (via moderator)

Guild DV-72 Limited Edition-Turquorise: Only 200 of these were made in the Westerly, RI Shop. Since they cannot be replicated with that Westerly Logo in them now, their value can only go up!….and up!! You could find one new for $1500 in ’93. So you figure, what’s a very high quality Guild solid rosewood matched backs and sides, w/AAAA feathered Spruce top-w/special carved internal top bracing, w/herringbone inlay & white trim. It has Turquoise: Arrow-heads on the bridge, A rosette around the sound hole, and in the arrowheads in the mother of pearl fret inlays ala a D-55. This Guitar has a D-100 headstock with the multi-layered woods that give it the trim edging that does far and above what the ivoryloid edging does for the guitar on the D-55. On the headstock is the D-100 mother of pearl "Guild" name with a Turquoise Logo right below it. It’s a most beautiful guitar! I’ve not seen a Martin, Taylor, or anyone else’s Custom high-end guitar with Turquoise that can match it. The tone is Guild at it’s best, which is distinctive and in it’s own way, better than Martin and Taylor, etc., as an all around high quality rosewood dreadnought guitar. If you find one, don’t pass it up! If you have one, don’t ever sell it! Remember, there were only 200 made and who knows how many of those are still with us and in good shape?

  7. My experience with Guild has been financially-draining and heartbreaking. A new JF 65 12-string, purchased for me as a gift by my wife, turned out to have several problems. Both the dealer and Guild were un-interested in making it right. I got rid of it extremely marked down on consignment. Guild’s quality and its corporate ethics, in my experience, are in great need of enhancement. Proceed with caution as you deal with this company…they ain’t what they used to be.

I’m sad to hear that you are not well. If and when you decide to sell, please let me know. My 1967 212 is no longer playable, and I really would like to get another of the same era. I don’t know much about the price, I see a wide price range when I look online, but I just saw a 212 for 700.
I hope you are able to return to healthy soon.
best regards and blessings for healing

I have a NOS 1999 (Rhode Island) f65ce that’s new, not mint blondie. I ‘d take 1250. and it’s all set up witht he plastic on the guard still. It may be 10-20% more than a played one but it may be the last new one available, OHSC and humidifier included. Email for photos. Thanks

I’m looking for exactly the same guitar, blonde or black, so if you find one used, I’d be interested in what you had to pay for it. I have a question about two amps that I have. One amp is a GUild thunder star bass amp, it is in perfect condition. Now, Im not interested in selling it, but If its not worth much then im going to mess around eith it. THe second amp is a sayno or sano combo. It has some tubes missing but is also in perfect condition. If that is worth anything, I dont want to mess it up playing with it either. thanks

There’s only few out there. Made from 87-88 I think. They’re Korean knockoffs Steinbergers (licensed). Made in the same factory as COrt and Hohner headless guitars/Basses. I’m looking for another guitar. Even though it’s family gift instrument if you’re ever interested in selling it contact me. I give you a fair price. They’ve got great look. Any mods to the bass?

The Burnside Crossbow Bass were all Prototypes. There was only 36 ever made, in 6 different colors, Black, Red, Blue, White, and 2 other colors they are not completely sure of, possibly a silver color and a Green metallic color. The phone was originally made in 1984 and put out for sale in 1985. and the story was that Guild was trying a new technique to shape the wood used on the bass to change the sound quality, the technique worked but was very very expensive, from what is known there was 12-15 Crossbows sold and the rest vanished, possibly destroyed or kept by Guild Employees. hope this help…

The only time i have seen one (guitar)was in local music store (daddys junky music) monthly flyer. I fell big time for the shape. they were asking $189 usd for it, it went quick. I’d be willing to spend a bit more.

I just bought one at a vintage guitar show for $1,000.00, near mint but has one small light indentation not through the finish on the back. What is it worth? I have researched the DV-72 until I am blue in the face. Very hard to find credible info on it. From what I have learned the DV stands for Dreadnought Vintage, the HG for high gloss, the NT for natural top, and the serial # in your guitar should indicate which # of the limited 200 you own. I bought the one on Ebay.

: I am looking for anyone who owns or has additional info/history on a DV-72 NT. I have owned one now for about a year and would not trade the guitar for any amount of money…well….maybe a million or two! But would like to share facts or find about more about this "hard to come by" guitar.

You probably have a Guild DV-52 NT. Does it have Rosewood sides and back with a vintage color (darker than the normal whiteish color) spruce top? You may be misreading the 5 as a 7 or the person who wrote on the label made a mistake.

No mistake………The DV-72 NT w/Turquoise inlays was limited edition of 200 in the 90s. It was a cross between a D-55 and D-100 with Turquoise and the antique finish top.

No kidding!!! I have a JV-72 NT – the jumbo version – same turquoise inlays…sounds like a steinway…..once upon a time, I saw a DV (D for dreadnaught and J for jumbo) 72 on ebay with malachite inlays….ooohh-la-la – I’d pounce on it if I ever saw it again – limited production, for sure – I heard they came in pairs, the D and the J – but what was the thinking??? damn fine guitars!

I have a beautiful Guild DV-52-NT acoustic guitar for sale. About a mid to late 1980’s model. (glossy finish). I had a pick up professionally instaled. Hard shell case included. Unit looks new! Make me an offer if interested.

Hello! I have a Guild DV 72-NT HG (don’t know what the HG part is). Anyway, it is a limited edition (1 of 200) with tuquoise and mother-of-pearl inlay and a great turquoise logo on the head. I agree that it sounds wonderful.

I’ve just bought a DV-72 from the states online and have shipped it here to my home in Queensland, on the east coast of Australia. What a beautiful guitar! I had it set up here and put an LR Baggs LB6 pickup in it going straight to a strap jack. From there I use an LR Baggs Para acoustic DI preamp. A magical and fairly warm sound. Will keep you informed on how the guild takes the Australian climate, as well as my gigging 3 times a week.

:The dv 72 is also known as the Pueblo limited edition. very nice guitar. very few were made of this this model . The all curly Koa wood Peacock is another highly prized Limited edition guild but that will cost you quite a bit more than the pueblo – Willcuttguitars.com has one now for $5,000 which is more than I paid for mine in 96 but its sooooo sweeet.

I do own a 1994 model Guild DV-72 Nt Hg. The model was a limited run of 200 guitars back in 1994-95. They are a cross between a D-100 and D-55. With the D-55 fret markers and the D-100 headstock. The difference is in the turquoise inlay which is unique among Guild acoustics. The NT stands for natural top and the HG stands for high gloss. The last 3 numbers of your serial should indicate which one of the limited 200 you own.

      1. 1994 Guild JV72
        Rick Barnes

I also own a 1994 Guild JV72, No. 14 of 23 made. I own several guitars but NONE compare to the sound of this one, and it just gets better every day.

      2. Guild DV72
        Owner Guild DV72 and DV73

I’ve owned both the Guild DV72 and Guild DV73 for many years, and still do. Over the years I’ve tried so very hard to find another guitar that compared, and with the exception of maybe a Martin Custom D28 I once almost bought once, there isn’t one (so far) that appeals to me the way these high end Guild DV’s (Dreadnought Vintage) have. Guild started their quest to build a guitar which had a vintage sound right out of the box with the DV52. The DV52 was so popular that Guild followed with the DV62, then the 72, 73 and a few 74 and DV76’s.

I bought my DV72 in ’04 and the DV73 in ’05. Their build quality is second to none. Guild had a reputation for building “heavy” guitars at the time, but being the owner of many Guild acoustics, I can tell you that the DV line was a substantially lighter build than most Guild acoustics of the day. These guitars offer fabulous depth and fantastic intonation.

T be precise, there were 197 DV72’s built by Guild, and 50 DV73’s. Both models were built in the ’94-’96 time frame in Westerly, Rhode Island.

      3. Guild Acoustic Guitar (DV72-NT HG)
        Anonymous

I have one of these for sale. this Guild DV72 features an AAAA feathered spruce top, G Shield logo, turquoise inlays, Grover Imperial tuners, and Herringbone binding, Onboard electronic pick-up. This one is spotless with no nicks and scratches and a low serial number (CK000023).

        1. Guild JV-72
          Steve Croft

I think you will find that your Guild JV-72 is one of only 23 made! Guild produced 19 of those in 94 and another 4 in 95.

I own the less fancy looking JV-52, of which Guild did make only 28 (mine is number 20) all of which were produced in 94.

I have been trying to contact JV owners since I purchased mine late last year. It would be nice to get a list of owners together.

          Steve.

      4. Guild DV-72 NT
        Fritz Fissel

I had been looking for one since about 2000 when i saw one owned by a friend in Harrisburg, PA. and soon after, coincidentally, another friend who acquired one for a rediculously low price in the Philadelphia area. I was attracted by the beauty but even more by the sound, which is unusually voluminous and resonant for such a heavy guitar (typically Guild). I finally found one at a guitar show in Bucks County, Pa which was in the possession of a Nashville dealer. We agreed on $2000, which I considered to be a very good price. A Martin or Gibson of this quality, beauty and rarity would have been twice the price. This is probably the best guitar Guild has ever produced!

          Marc

I am the proud owner of #158. I too have been looking for one of these rare beasts for quite some time. Just by chance, one popped up on Reveb (music gear site) and grabbed it up. Though I may have overpaid for it, just had to have it. It needs to be setup and a good cleaning/ polishing, but it’s sound is amazing. The guy I purchased from said appeared to have been played very little and included the original case key and receipt, he was spot on. The original Guild case is worn and looks to have been stored away for a long time. All in all, I’m quite happy to finally own one and is the star of my collection.

      6. dv 72
        dave croston

I purchased my Guild DV 72 NT Pueblo new in ’94, the year 200 of them were made, according to the Guild rep I spoke to at the time. It’s still a mainstay tool in my studio to this day, and has always been a focal point of many other guitar players who have recorded here over the years. As for the question Paul Ducker posted, I believe what he has is a Guild DV 73, made the following year. It is basically the same guitar as the DV 72 ( I played one ), but has more cosmetic inlay work of red coral and black onyx. Again, a very rare & collectible piece; I believe only 200 were ever made.

        1. Guild DV72
          Paul Ducker

My DV72 (as it reads on the label) has no black onyx, only red coral inlay. The complete model number reads “DV72 NTCL”. The serial number is AD720137, which from what I have learned it was #137 of the 200 made. I would like to know if anyone knows of another with red coral inlay. I’ve consulted George Gruhn and others who have never heard of another. I’ve was told there may be one in Canada as of several months ago, but I can’t confirm that. I picked mine up in a pawn shop in Branson MO.

      7. Guild DV 72
        Paul Ducker

I have a DV 72 with red coral inlays and gold tuners. I’ve not seen another one like it. All I’ve seen is the turquoise inlay. Is the red coral even more rare? It is 137 of 200. I wouldn’t part with it,
but I would like to have some idea of it’s worth (compared to the turquoise models).

      8. Guild JV-72
        Anonymous

I have a JV-72 as well. I have owned several guitars over the years, including a Matin D-35, A Gibson SJ-45 and a Guild D-55. They were all great sounding guitars, but the JV-72 is in a class all by itself.

        Hal

I have a Guild X-500 ‘Stuart’ guitar, Serial number DA 255.

Can you tell me what year it was made and about what it is worth??

It is sunburst, equipped with a gold Guild vibrato and is absolutely beautiful. I bought it brand new directly from the Guild
factory through my brother’s music store around 1969, 1970 or thereabouts. I have only played it in my home or my friend’s home and
        at church.

      11. HELP!! Can't find what year this serial number is
        Jay

        AD55074

That’s the serial number on a D55 I’m looking to buy.

Can’t find it anywhere. The sellers claims its a 1997 but that doesn’t compute with Guild info.

Anybody know how to date the guitar?

I have the original 12 string guild acoustic guitar from the mamas and papas reunion tour1985/ That was John Phillips ! model # F612N.T.serial # 59661 I would sell for a lot of $ starting at 6,500.00 we were appraised at over 10,000

      13. Guild electric Hollow Body, Model X175 Manhatten .
        Mr. A

I’m trying to date this guitar. The serial number inside on the Guild orange/white label is as follows:
        X 175 model
        EG 147 Serial.
EG 147 is stamped on the back of the head stock.
        Any information is greatly appreciated.

      14. I have a Guild guitar accoustic, very good condition. I’m tyring to find the year i was made model # DA25NT, serial # DA114475 made in West Virgina. any advice on ow to do this?
        thank you 🙂

      15. I have a 1995 X 700 That to seems to be a custom model X700.
It seems to be a cross between the Artist Award and the X700.The reason I say this is: It has one floating pickup, one control knob{ volume } as does the Artist Award. All X700 guitars except this one have two pickups and four Knobs,volume/tone controls.
The serial number is AK700046 and if im correct makes it built in 1995.But the model says B1 which I cannot find any mention of it in the Guild serial and model numbers listed on the web and I have looked at several sites.I know for a fact it has not been modified after it was built.
At some time in late 1990’s {Luthier}BENEDETTO came on board at Guild as a consultant for them and made desighn changes in the Artist Award guitar, could this be a prototype or possibly a custom build?
Any information anyone has or if you can direct me to somewhere/someone that may have this information I would greatly appreciate it.

        Thanks

    Blake Fussell

I have a late 60’s model Guild guitar. I would to find out more about its value and performance ability.I would also like to know some History on this particular type of instrument. It has Madeira written on the neck of the guitar. Do you have any inclination to what this could mean. The following may help:
    – Serial # A-2 followed by 478179.
Thank you for your help! Blake.

      CF Mancino

I also have a Madeira A-2 which I got new in about 1974 at a Kimbal’s music store in Dover, Delaware. I think it cost about $100.00. It is, as far as I know, a low line Guild made in Japan when all the big guitar companies were going there to be competitive with low level guitars. I think that it is a blessing because the Japanese and Koreans can build great musical instrument and that shows in this guitar. I can’t imagine what a piece of junk I would have had if I had bought a $100 or $200 dollar USA guitar. I probably would have given up on the instrument.

I have a burnside Lance Rhandy rhodes flying V guitar. neck through excellent pickups, V pearl inlays, kahler trem etc. very nice. the burnside models are not well known and were only made for a few years. some are very high end. (500 or more list when they came out in the early to mid eighties.) and some are junk. I doubt this helps much but I though I would share. 🙂

I have a Burnside Blade, bought new circa ’86, black. Burnside had a few wilder-looking solidbody guitars too, they’re basically cheap Guilds. The finish isn’t pretty up close, but the playing and action are very good. My pots are frozen and I’m going to rewire it this weekend; I disabled the tremolo by replacing the springs with metal bars (I’m not much on whammy, it’s just not my thing; maybe I’d feel differently if I used a more expensive trem that stays in tune). I painted the planet Earth on the front of the guit, it looks damn good; it also has a GK2A Roland synth pickup. I bet I’ve written fifty songs on that thing. Good guitar. Probably be playing it twenty years from now.

I saw your guitar on line I think. It’s missing the synth pup but it was there. Very cool ax. It’s for sale online for $200obo.
I put in a bid for $180 because shipping was $50. He had already sold it. Darn!

I just replaced the pots. It appears to have worked perfectly, which is cool because I don’t solder much. The Blade takes two identical 500k ohm pots because it has humbucker pickups (the store dude told me this). Humbuckers almost always take 500k pots. There’s a capacitor on the tone pot. I don’t know the type, I just used the old one (d’oh! I should have written down what it says on the capacitor!) Not much else to know, if you’re putting the wires exactly where the old ones were; if doing it from scratch, I suppose I could post a drawing of what I did.

I bought mine slightly used about 12 years ago and just recently found another one at a music store in Minneapolis. Iwent to the Guild website and can not find it catalogued in there. I’ve owned several guitars and this one is still my favorite. I play in a metal band and this guitar has the most awesome crunch to it. No one believes me when I tell them it’s a Guild.

Hey Guys….I own a Burnside Lance that I have completely restored…well…with a lotta new parts. I love it and it is not replacable.
I don’t know if any of this helps anyone, but I bought mine new in ’87 and soon after it was damaged. I sent it to Burnside, located in Rhode Island for repair. I have also ordered several of the mystery bridges from them at that time.
I’m not sure if the Bridge on the Lance and the Blade are the same, but the ones I have are some sorta Kahler type copy (short springs in small face cavity)
I have many original parts after replacing, so if anyone needs anything email me and maybe I can help!

I am looking for parts….specifically, the tremelo…I call it the "OuttaTune" cuz mine is shot. The trem is stamped "made in Korea". Anybody find any additional info since these were posted?
By the way, anyone have any problems with theirs? When I got the thing used about 10 yrs ago, the fretboard had started to seperate from the neck…my only problem.

I also have a Burnside by Guild. It’s white with a strat body. Three way swith, two knobs, 2 single pick-up EMG Selects, and one EMG Select Humbucker. It’s also made of the strongest wood I’ve ever seen. I’ve dropped it on solid wood floors and there’s not a dent in it. It’s also twenty years old!! I also have a Burnside Hammer by Guild. It is black with the EMG Select Humbucker. I have had this guitar since 1989, so that may give you an idea of the age. It has heldup remarkably and I still use it from time to time. This guitar sounds very similar to a Les Paul if driven through a tube amp. I noticed that it is also very good to record with if you are plugged directly into the board. The pickup is great for blues or rock, but its high end features are minimal.

I’ve been trying to find replacements for mine since ’94 or so. Have you tried the Kahler 23xx springs found at Whammy Parts? I’ve been told they fit the Accutune bridge and that looks a LOT like the brideg on my Burnside. I was about to order two of them myself, before I just order a new Kahler 2320.

I recently traded for a red guild burnside blade that was electronically gutted. It’s also missing the back metal cover. I don’t quite know what to do with it. I don’t know what kind of bridge it would use or things like that, I just know the body is in decent shape for the age. Do you have any suggestions for me? I’m a first timer with regards to project guitars, so I don’t want to ruin it further. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

      3. Accutune trem.
        Boboboski

I have 16 guitars by Burnside & I can say for certain that not all Accutunes are the same. For instance, I have a “Cutlass” with an Accutune that takes a completely different trem bar than my “The Lance”. The trem bar for the Cutlass was a “drop in” type and my Lance has a screw in type. The Cutlass also has a place for the trem bar to drop in at the top and bottom of the Accutune where as the Lance only screws in at the bottom. I also have a one of a kind Burnside “Crossroads” (Tele copy) with a Floyd Rose and special neck with pearloid inlays of a laso, cowboy boots, a lance or spear, (matadore stuff) on it. Is says, “made in South America”. I have 3 Burnsides that were made in S. America. (A Crossbow Bass, a Crossroads guitar and another strange model that looks like a Steinberger. It’s called a “Bolo”. I have NEVER seen another one like it ever. I even sent pictures of it to Guild and Fender but they were no help.

      4. Burnside guitars for SALE!!! I have 16 total.
        Boboboski

I inherited a HUGE guitar collection recently and I have at least one of every model ever made. I even have 3 that were made in South America. I found a guitar called, “Crossroads” in the collection that is a true one of one. It was made in South America and has a CRAZY looking neck. Instead of “boomerang’s” as fret markers, it has what looks to be cowboy hats, a laso, a pair of cowboy boots, bull horns, and a lance looking object all in pearloid and very well detailed. If you want to own a rare Burnside, email me at [email protected] and I can send you’all some picture’s of these beautiful guitars and basses. I live in Medford Oregon and some are listed there on CL. Thank you. My name is Bo.

      5. Guild Burnside guitars.
        Boboboski

I own 3 of these, a Cutlass, and two Lances. ( one bass, one 6 string.) and I love them. I paid only $122 for the Cutlass at GC online. ($100 + $22 shipping) I recently sold it for a lot more. I’ll never sell the Lance bass or 6 string because they were all bought when I was a small kid of 12. I collect Washburn Stage Series and Burnside guitars because as a kid, they were inexpensive. I never paid more than $300 for any of them yet today in 2015, the price is high and they are a bear to find unmolested or even working. I never played the guitar because I love playing drums but when I was a teen, drums were expensive. I liked the look of crazy styled guitars as a kid so I bought used old BC Riches’ and Kramers’ & the like and hung them on my walls. They never got played and just collected dust so when I moved out, my parents put them away for me till later. Now is later and my parent’s are sending me all my guitars to me. I still don’t know how to play but they sure look cool!

      6. Guild Burnside Blade
        BC

I picked up a used one in 1994 just to have an electric to mess with…Sort of liked looks (red/yel sunburst) at the time (still do)…..I’ve actually begun to play a lot more and have been scoffing up “inexpensive” (Squier Vintage modifieds,Xavieres) electrics for whatever reason and are very pleased with quality and sounds (once you’ve tweaked everything) but when I haul out old “Blade”, it still have a uniqueness in feel & sound… All in all. a pretty cool versatile axe.
