    looking for a 7 string.
Need a floyd rose to go with that,
dont worry about bumps and scratches i dont really care,
just aslong as there is nothing to ruin the playing.
Or even so, i dont mind either, as i can fix it up.

  2. Knobs from a S540
    Alex

Hi.. Im after 2 knobs from an S540 to put on my new S470QM.. The knobs on my 470 look crap but i like the metal tapered ones with o-rings that are from older S540LTD.. Can anyone help me out on these knobs for price and availability in sydney Australia

    1. Re: Knobs from a S540
      Josh H

These knobs have not been available anywhere for years. They were not used on many guitars, so there were not many spares made. They were also found on some of the RBMs. Your best best is to lightly sand the ones you have, refinish them, and then find rubber o-rings at your local hardware store that fit the knob. I have done this a couple times and it works great.

    1. Re: Ibanez ATK bass - fretless or fretted
      kasper

If you want an old one (japan usually), well just look for a second hand. i’ve bought a 1995 ATK 300 fretted a while ago and i know what youre missing.. its a blast, so just look around on the internet or in your neighborhood for a secondhand one and as you problably know, there now being reproduced so if you can’t find an old one.. just buy one brand new:)

I had a 4 string Ibanez ATK 305 4 string fretless that I bought new in the mid 90’s. My primary bass for about 7-8 years, which really helped me develop a distinct sound and style. Anyway, same old story, it was stolen in 2002. I’ve been looking for another one ever since, but haven’t had any luck. Any suggestions on rocks to look under?

      Thanks for any helpful advice,

  5. Ibanez Twin Neck
    John A

Can anyone give me history on a twin neck (12/6) I purchased about 1989? Body is based on the S540 series. From what I know the guitar was brought out from the US for the Melbourne music show but was not returned to the US for it had some scratches on it. I have searched for info on this guitar but it does not appear in the Ibanez catalogues.

Can anyone provide specs and run numbers, please.

The tr80’s go for about $100 or a little more depending on what shape they are in and if they include a hard case or not.Maybe $150 tops for a excellent condintion piece.

  11. Hey, new to the site and am already feeling the love. Anyway I bought an Ibanez Musician Bass from our local music shop about 8 years ago. I think it was made in late 70’s early 80’s perhaps. It is passsive/active with a switch to change between the 2, although recently its been temperamental when playing it. Anyone have scematics on how the electronics should be configured so I can have a squizz?? My pick up knob has decided it now wants to be a volume knob and my treble knob has followed suit. Any ideas on whats gone wrong?? Also I need a machine head for my bass as one of mine was snapped off while travelling to a gig in LA.Any idea where I could get one.Original machinehead reads "Ibanez VELVE TUNE BII" on the machinehead base that holds it in place. Cheers,Age.

  20. RG prices needed.
    Andrew B (via moderator)

    Hi.

I’am not really that sure what prices are like, so I thought I’d ask here.

I have a maximum budget of say, $800 bucks, and I really want an Ibanez RG. I’m not sure if $800 will buy me a mid-range RG (I highly doubt it would buy me a hig-end or prestige model, but I could be wrong).

So, the question is what RG models in particular, if any, would I be looking at for anywhere up to 800 bucks.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

  21. Help! Wierd sound from x model
    Scott Russell

Hey I bought the Ibanez X iceman a few months ago and it sounds fine on my practice amp, but i just got a band together and when i play on a cabinet it seems like it farts, and gives a bad sound. My other guitarist plays a fender strat, and through his marshall stack his guitar sounds pretty awesome, but when i hook up through his same exact set-up i sound like crap compared to him. To my understanding, the ibanez x is a nice model, around $700 retail, and i like it becuase it gives a nice deep sounds (apparently). Keep in mind i play rock metal, so i need the low tone and good sustain. Is the problem the pickups? Becuase sometimes the screws loosen themeselves and the pickup actually falls into the body and i have to take the strings out and fix it when that happens. Could it be possible the pickups are just damaged? i figured a mohogany body would give a better sound than that. Right back, or drop me an email, i’d love to know whats up before i go buy another guitar.

Take the guitar back to where you purchased it and get them to check it out instore with one of their amps, compare it to a similar model in stock to make sure there is a problem. If there is a problem it will be covered by warranty and repaired free of charge. The guitar should give you the sound you are after and should whip the Fenders arse.
      Good luck, Andrew

  22. Selling: Destroyer II Cherry Red early 1980's model
    Bey Taylor

I have an Ibanez Destroyer II, cherry red, approx. early 1980’s vintage. I bought it in 1983, and have played it no more than 5-10 times in last 20 years. I am selling it because I prefer my Stratocasters, and the Destroyer doesn’t suit my playing style or my music. Condition is excellent, especially frets, bridge, nut, tuning heads, etc etc; only blemishes are on the paintwork ( a few very tiny chips on the extremeties, and a little belt-buckle scratch on the back). I am interested in any responses; I am based in Adelaide.

Hi. I would be keen to buy your guitar, particularly if it has the hardtail bridge. Is it still for sale?
        my email is [email protected]

: I have an Ibanez Destroyer II, cherry red, approx. early 1980’s vintage.

Between $800.00 and $1,000.00 in Australia. Check for fret wear and trem post straightness. Ibanez Guitar Centre

I picked up one of these second hand in about 1983 and it’s in storage in South Australia. Can’t tell you much more except it’s very pretty, sounds interesting as is hard to play! It’s of the Musician series of that era.

I was the lucky buyer of that particular 980; I can concur that it’s pretty, sounds amazing & is quite a handful. I can just about get through "achilles’ last stand", which it does quite convincingly, before my hands need a rest.
I also have 924, 940 & fretless studio basses, amongst some 24 basses total.

I’ve finally brought my basses out of storage and tracked down a few things, like date of manufacture and model numbers. I can’t get a sound out of the MC980 8-string – have to get it on the bench. The MC940 fretless is beautiful – I can hardly out it down – but the old stalwart MC924 has sheared the tuning post on the D-string. Need to find VelveTune B2 tuners – wish me luck!

Hi Terry, are you after a new JS1000? If so we can help, nothin second hand at present. It will be almost impossible to buy a new ibanez scratch plate for the P bass as spare parts are only kept for around 5 years. We can supply another make that should fit for about $30.00, what colour are you after? Andrew

Buy the Ibanez case, it is without doubt one of the best cases on the market. If the price is an issue take a look at the Rockcase range, they often well priced and offer pretty good protection.

i have a hand customized ibanez grx720 (7 string) i done everything myself, i too all the orginal electronics out and replace it with heavyier wiring, better vol pot and a heavy duty dimarzio input jack i also replaced the bridge pickup with a Dimarzio blaze custom (green) i didnt replace the neck pickup i also took away the select switch (due to only one pickup design) and the tone pot, and replaced the old black vol knob with a green one to match the pickup, i also hand done the custom plate took me around 3 hours to complete (looks better then the original) i have pics of the guitar, im thinking about selling i was just wondering what kind of offers people would give me if there interested in it?

      cheers john

if u want pics just email me and ill be glad to show u

    1. Re: Does anyone know anything about the AE400
      Levon

I have an Ibanez AE400 built in the 1970s. I have had it since I started playing guitar. It was my uncle’s and he bought in the 1970s supposedly for US$1500. I don’t know how much truth there is to his stories, but it is the best guitar that I have ever played — and even the Taylors don’t cut it for me. I would never trade it for anything — not even a fully restored 1977 Chevy Chevelle.

: Hi all, I’m just after a bit of info on an old Ibanez AE400 Acoustic Electric. Its a mini jumbo shape with a sharp cutaway at the neck. I basically just want to know if anyone knows what it would be worth these days (its between 20 and 30 years old…i think) and is in very good condition. Is it considered a collectors item or anything like that??

The early models were made in Japan, "hand crafted from selected woods" These are worth more then the later models from Korea, They are great feeling and sounding guitars, worth more then they are sold for.
