I Just bought a Drifter "LES PAUL" copy It sounds great and the only web sites I can find about it brings me to vintage 1970’s catalogs. I found out it was made bt the CONTINENTAL MUSIC CO. (1970’s)But I am still trying to find the value of it too.

Athough i have still not found the value of my Drifter Les Paul copy, I beg to differ that it is cheap in any way. I have hooked up to my Roland GA60 amp and it sounds great! Nice, clean and a very rich sound. The original hardshell "Drifter" case and the dual humbucker pick ups are not cheap. Not to mention this guitar looks like it was never played, being in mint condition gloss black. Like any good musician (should) know(s), If it sound good and plays well then that’s all that matters.

Since no one has any info on this guitar or no one knows the value. I think that the value shoould be dertermined by the people who own them. Since they are a vintage guitar, with good quality pick-ups, and mine anyways is in great condition, I wouldn’t sell mine for less than 200-300 dollars, so there’s a price quote of you people wanting a value

  5. hi, i just got a typhoon bass. and someone told me it was really bad quality, i know i paid a good deal of money for it and im wondering if what this person said is true..

    thanks,

      : sarah

well whoever told you that a typhoon bass is bad quality is only half right. I myself have one and to really give an answer you’d have to define whats bad quality on it. but i can tell you that the sound off the pickups on this bass are great and it has a sturdy neck frame compared to other basses I’ve used in my 13 years of playing. But yes to answer your question its a good bass but not the best if your looking for very high quality.

  11. Mystery 12 string?
    Peter Campbell

I am not really a guitar buff but I recently came across an old twelve string which intrigued me.I need to go back for a further inspection but as viewed in the shop window,I could see the name
Dallas inlaid into the head.Right now that is all the info that I have.It would appear to have significant age but would appear to be in quite nice condition.Anyone out there with any idea what this might be or whether it might be worth the $250 that is being asked for it?

  13. Conn Drifter DC747 classical (nylon) guesstimate

Seems like a pretty nice guitar, needed some work on the tuners, but all of the wood is in near perfect condition, intonation’s good. Not expecting much, given what I paid for it, but it’s much nicer than I expected.

    1. Re: Alvarez Guitar Appraisal (DY39)
      Erik

      Well, folks-
All over the internet message boards, all I’ve seen is questions about the DY39, and no answers, and no responses from Alvarez itself.
I have good news. I emailed a request to Alvarez yesterday, and got this response this morning:

"The DY39 had a list price of $559 in 1989. I cannot give a current value as we do not do business in the used guitar market. It has a solid spruce top with rosewood laminate back & sides. The neck is mahogany, the fingerboard &
bridge are rosewood. My educated guess is that it may retain it’s original retail value, though I really do not have any facts to base that on other than my experience in general with Alvarez Yairi guitars."

At least I/we know that it’s authentic, and the original guitar’s worth, about which I could not find a clue until the Alvarez response.

Enjoy…I’m going to buy the Alvarez today.

      Erik

I have an opp. to buy an Alvarez DY 89 (I believe 1987).
      Decent condition.
I’d like to know what it’s worth by itself…
      then…
w/ an installed Fishman Acoustic Matrix Natural mic
      and an SKB hard case.

Is there a place on the net to lookup values of guitars, and perhaps original selling prices as well in their initial year?

      Thanks

On Tkaamine Guitars I have thought the first numbers were the year of manufacture = so yours would be made in 1975. It would be a laminated guitar so the value is not great.

I hope this helps. Check my website for some similar guitars for sale. http://www.marcsilbermusic.com
