        no its not bob dylan its arlo guthrie, i thought it was dylan at start but nope and the songs called mr. customs man, im gonna try and learn it im not finding any tabs though

      Erwin, sorry I don’t have tab for Buena Vista, but am looking for other Cooder tabs including "Maria Elena" from Boomer’s Story, and the three Joseph Spence pieces from Jazz. Any ideas?

        I could write out an approximation of Mary Elena, which I learned decades ago. No doubt it’s morphed
        a lot since then in my mind. If you’re interested in this, I would be willing to write it out, but not type
        it. I could e-mail you a scanned tiff or jpeg file. I have the CD and disk, but I don’t have time
        to refresh the arrangement to be more true to the original. E-mail me if you want it.

        I also worked out some of the Joseph Spence/Ry Cooder arrangements, including Great Dream of
        Heaven, Coming in on a Wing and a Prayer, and one other I can’t remember the name of. Same
        deal. E-mail me.

        I was just looking for tab myself when I fell on this. I don’t read this group, so e-mail is the only way

              I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that there are at least two other people out there who have also been searching for this particular "holy grail" of fingerstyle guitar. I wrote today to John Stropes (author of "20th Century Masters of Fingerstyle Guitar" and other transcription books a la Fahey, Kottke, Lang, Spence & Cooder. I’ll keep you posted on what I find, but would like to hear from anyone out there who might have a line on a "Flashes" transcription. Thanks!

                    I’m not sure how this works but I too am interested in a transcription of Flashes, it reminds me of another solo guitar arrangement by charlie byrd of Body and Soul from years ago-Francis Krebs

                I thought I would save myself some time by finding a transcription of "Flashes" on-line,…. I guess I’ll have to do it the hard way after all. I’ll let you all know when (and if) I finish it. FYI,… he’s using a "double D" tuning and a capo at I. Eflat/Bflat/Eflat/Aflat/C/Eflat
                Don’t crucify me if I’m wrong, but you can definitely hear the open high Eflat in the beginning, and so far it works.

              I, too, am looking for a ‘Flashes’ tab. I met Cooder and he said it was in standard tuning and ‘worked it’s way up the neck’ but we weren’t in a position for me to really grill him. anyway, any info would be appreciated,. john
