In Reply to: how do you restring a guitar with a flloyd rose... and yes I took all the strings off (I DIDN'T KNOW) posted by VeinZ on April 13, 2001 at 14:37:33:
: Everytime I tune and get close, one string is not close, but if you mess with it, it throws the rest of em out with the flloyd rose bridge on it..... My guitar is temprorarily
: useless and that upsets me.
But all the strings on loosly before you start taking up to their respective tightness.
Use the same gauge/brand strings as the ones you took off.
Unscrew the plate on the back. See those springs? The're attached to the Floyd Rose and to this little hook thing attached to the guitar by screws. Here's the trick: you can mess with how far in those screws go, thereby increasing or releasing tension on the springs. You should be messing with the tuners as much as you're messing with the screws.
This will take you at least 3 hours the first time. If you get frustrated, give up. Then come back in a half hour or so.
