    1. Guitar tuning to Frozen Love

      some insight into the tuning for Frozen Love would be very much appreciated. I believe that the opening two note bounce is a B to an E chord, with the B played on a dropped A string. However, the riff played in between the chords sounds like it is fingerpicked and not played as one string pull-offs.

      I’ve tried a bunch of different alternative tunings on this song, but the closest so far seems to be (from low to high) CGDGBD with a capo on the 7th fret. I’m working on the tab, but to get you focused in the right direction (as far as I can tell), some of the main chords are am7, c/b, open f#m shapes (or variations of) with hammer-on and pull-off supplements and some sliding. This is by no means all inclusive, but it can be figured out from there.

      This tune drives me crazy – I heard it millions of times and I just freeze when I listen to it, it’s so beautiful. Just when I think Lindsey plays it in open D – DADF#AD – one thing that throws me off is the high D when he plays bridge on G. It can’t be open D…. but open D is closest I’ve tried.

      I’ve looked every where for a roadmap to this song and have turned up nothing. ARe you still working on it? Did you make some head way? I’ve really just started this project, I’m relatively familiar with Lyndsey’s style, insofar as I can play ‘big love’ and ‘never going back again" note for note. I only say that to let you know I’m not some beginning player who doesn’t have a clue. Doesn’t necessarily mean I’m a great player though. I’m trying Open D and capoing the 5th fret. It’s a strange little tune. Thanks for any help.

        Have you continued with this project. I sat down with it yesterday. I have had some success with BGDGBD capoed at the seventh fret. In the event you want to compare notes.

          I think I’ve figured out most of the ‘positioning’ to play the song in Open E but am pretty limited on the Travis picking style so often used by Lindsey so…….
          Nonetheless, if you’d be willing to share your tab, I’d be most appreciative!

          Best tuning I’ve found so far is:

          D-A-E-A-C#-E
          Capo at 5th fret
          Sounds pretty close to the original….
