: Hey fiends!!! visit www.johndawsonread.com John is the author of this song. He will help you directly.
: regards

: : Howdy Bobby,

: : In answer to your question, no, no one has sent me tabs or chords. A while back someone sent me the chords and lyrics for the verses. However nothing for the chorus. My own transcription skills aren't good enough to allow that. So any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

: : Be Well

: : SRK

: : : Any luck finding the lyrics or tabs?

: : : Thanks,
: : : Bobby

: : : : Howdy folks,

: : : : Does any one have the chords and tabs for the 70's song "A friend of mine is going blind"? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

: : : : Be Well

: : : : Scott R. Kirkman

: : : : This is as close as I could come. I have listed the chords in G, buit I believe the original 1975 recording was done with a capo on the first fret.
When I capo up a fret and play in G it's right with the recording. Words and chords follow:

A Friend of mine is going blind
By John Dawson Read

G Gmaj7 Em
A Friend of mine is going blind, but through the dimness
Am D
He sees so much better than me
G Gmaj7 Em
And how he cherishes each new thing that he sees
Am D
They are locked in his head, he will save them for when
G
He’s in darkness again

G Gmaj7 Em
He can't read books and he can't paint pretty pictures
Am D
But he understands so much clearer than I
G Gmaj7 Em
For he knows that all he's missing with his eyes
Am D
Is more vivid in the mind of the man who’s going blind
G
And that's why he doesn’t mind

CHORUS I:

C G D G
Won't you sing Tommy Davidson of things that you have seen
C G
Sing of winter's bite and summer nights
D
And places you have been
C G D G
Of dew drops and forget-me-nots and silver silky sheen
C G D
Lain across the morning meadow on the hillside

G Gmaj7 Em
And this friend of mine, he plays guitar and sings his song so well
Am D
And he sings so much better than I
G Gmaj7 Em
He can sing you any pictures in your mind
Am D
He will sketch them out in rhyme, draw the details in the lines
G
And he'll colour it in time
G Gmaj7 Em
And Oh how he loves his guitar, and it loves him
Am D
And they play so much sweeter than me
G Gmaj7 Em
As if to say that come the day that he can't see
Am D
He will have at his command so much beauty in his hands
G
That the loss won't come so hard.

CHORUS II

C G D G
Won't you sing Tommy Davidson of things that you have done
C G D
Sing of silver seagulls sailing into evening’s golden sun
C G D G
Sing of city streets and villages and people on the run
C G D
Tell the people how you know it Tommy Davidson

G Gmaj7 Em
A Friend of mine is going blind but through the dimness
Am D
He sees so much better than me
G Gmaj7 Em
And how he cherishes each new thing that he sees
Am D
They are locked in his head, he will save them for when
G
He's in darkness again.
