I CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE MY GUITAR SOUND GOOD IN DROP D AND THAT SUCKS CAUSE A LOT OF MY FAVORITE BANDS USE DROP D TUNING IN THERIR SONGS
SO IF YOU COULD GIVE ME SOME ADVISE ON HOW TO PLAY IN DROP D BETTER I WOULD BE VERY GRATFUL
i cannot give you any advice all i can say is dont go mainstream with it, who cares if your band uses a specific tuning, so do my favorite bands but i dont copy them. try and find whatever tuning works for you then use it and maybe someday you will have people wondering why they dont sound good tuned the same way you do and you can tell them what i said. :)

Since the only note that is different from standard tuning is the 6th string, here is an easy way to get into Drop D tuning. Play your 4th string open, which is a D. Then play the 12 fret harmonic on the 6th string. Tune that harmonic note down a whole step so that it sounds like the open 4th string. If you play electric guitar, use some distortion when you do this. When both notes are ringing at the same time, you will then hear them "crash" against each other when they are out of tune. The further those crashes are from each other, the closer you are to being in tune.
Just starting to learn the guitar and would like to find some sheet music from bands such as the eagles , cat stevens ,voilent fems led zepplin so can you please help with this

I'm not officially taking any lessons right now. I'm actually teaching myself right now. I'm trying to learn some scales
Phrygrian, Aeolian, Ionian.... my goal is to be able to solo for a jazz ensemble, and solo really well. What do you suggest
for me.

Hi my name is rick Washbrook I am a Jazz guitarist I have been playing for 26 years. My suggestion would be to really learn the melody of the song in every position on the fret board and then play with embelishment notes around the melody before you know it you will be improvising. I can help in other ways to.I am at rickwashbrook@hotmail.com

Re: drop D tuning
all you do is tune down your low E string from an E to a D. (1-tone- 2 frets) there you go have fun!
