Seeking background on Suzuki No. 5

Greetings All
My wife bought me home a #5 that she picked up at a market for AUD20! Structurally it's in good condition, has cosmetic nicks and scratches and the machine heads need a lube and tighten. That and a new set of strings and I reckon she'll be sweet! I'm interested in any info on this model anyone can share. I'm principally a keyboard player but absorbed guitar during the great acoustic era of CSN&Y & the like. I find the strings (only 5 at the moment) to be spaced quite closely together and even tho I have 'fine' fingers I have to be careful to avoid fingernails touching the adjacent string, but familiarity will kick in eventually.
Regards..........Jon in Queensland Australia.

Re: Seeking background on Suzuki No. 6

Ah...it's actually a # 6

Re: Seeking background on Suzuki No. 6

After spending some time with this instrument I noticed that some notes elicited a buzz from beneath the bridge. Then I saw that 2 screws - one each end - had been put down through the bridge and sounding board, probably to pull up the strut beneath :-(

I have this Takumi Luthier TC 135 S clasical guitar; But where did it came from ?; which factory ? What is the histopry of this guitar making ? I bouhgt the guitar in 1976 and it is stated Made in Japan.
Who canb help me ? I'll be gratefull.

takumi

I bought a Takumi guitar in 1977 in Japan. It was produced by swiss company with japanese technicians/guitarbuilders.
The name I don't remember. I bought mine for Yen 230.000.
Later the company was bought by Yamaha, who continued under their own name.
I have never seen the make Takumi afterwards.
I hope this is somewhat useful to you.
My takumi is still better than a 3000dollar guitar you find nowadays. I play it with pleasure52

Buy it... I love mine... Sounds fantastic, built well and pretty. I have beau-coup guitars and this is one of my favorites to play around the house.

SUZUKI VIOLIN COMPANY GUITAR

Hi we have recently inherited a beautiful 6 string acoustic guitar. The label indicates that it was made by the Suzuki Violin Company in Japan. It has 2 numbers: RM10169 and 1665. Does anybody have any idea of its value for insurance purposes?

Your suzuki acoustic.

I have 1663 .It's in bad state surface wise but sounds nice and plays very well.Wouldn't expect to get more than £30-£35 for it in uk .sorry.

my j.s. Watson-any info?

I own a J.watson & co- semi acoustic that I have owned,played, loved & recorded with since the early/mid 80's
: I have never seen another modle like it so can anyone give me some history details & perhaps rough value?
: It is a 'copy' in shape & style to the Gibson Es-335 TD with two pick ups& mine is an all Black finish. I cant find a serial number on it but it does have a made in Japan sticker on the back of the head.
: As I said , I would really appreciate any information on this great guitar

Three S AE20

I have a Suzuki Three S AE20 and would appreciate any info about this guitar; year of manufacture, value etc? I acquired it in the early 80's as a family hand-me-down. (And it still plays beautifully.)

Re: Three S AE20

I have a Suzuki Three S AE20L.....am also looking for info..not much around
:(

All that I have found is that they are no longer in production...the factory now only makes violins...so these are becoming very rare.

here is a couple of links you may like to follow :)

Suzuki # 10 Classical

Hi
I was checking out guitars at the pawn shop today and I saw this beautiful shaped guitar with the most deep rich colored wood top, and when I looked inside the back was made of a real dark wood like mahogany. There was a piece missing from the machine heads and the strings were broken, and I guess that's why they were selling it for 35 bucks. Anyway I went to the music store and got a new set of machine heads and some strings for it and when I put it all back together it sounded brilliant. It makes my other classical guitar sound very lame indeed. The Suzuki has a powerful clear tone and I'm stoked.

The label inside is square with a light green pattern on it, and the words Suzuki, Model number 10. Japan

I went to the Suzuki website and it seems they make most of their classical guitars with a mahogany back and a spruce top.

It's seriously one good looking and great sounding guitar that I will treasure for life.

I've been checking out guitars new and old all over the place for months and this one has the best wood I've seen yet, and the nicest shape.

what is it worth

I have a forty year old Washburn w200 the serial number is to faded to read trying to find others like it?

Re: what is it worth

I know this post is several years old, but I actually have the same question as you did, and was wondering if you have any advice or ideas on where to find out information? Thanks!

Suzuki classical No. 18

I have a No. 18 that needs a good home. I can't find any info about it. Can anybody help? Some kind of a trade might be possible-like for a good flat-top.

I think I got this guitar in the early 70's. I never used it much but it has some finish problems from years in storage. Help
