: I bought this 12 string beauty about 10 years ago for £50 (sterling),I have a few other guitars that cost considerably more, but I have to say my Takeharu sounds better than most of my other acoustics. It has such as big fat rich sound and other people are always commenting as such! Is there anybody else out there who has any comments on this, in my opinion ‘Fine instument’.
      Hallo
I boughta Takeharu WT200 yesterday (second hand) and am very impressed with the sound. I know absolutely nothing about these guitars. This one is dated 1975 and in very good condition. I wondered how much it would be worth! Regards Kevin.

Someone in the Netherlands was selling his Takeharu WTK200 12 string, very good condition. I did some googlin, and found a lot of reviews saying what a wonderful guitar this is. So I offered the buyer 70 euros for it, and he just sent me an email telling me that he has accepted my offer. It should arrive by the middle of next week – I can’t wait ! It should be a lot better than the Norwegian made Morgan 12 string I’ve been using so far.

I have a Takeharu 12 string guitar model WTK100. I have had this guitar from new when I bought it around 1978/9. It has matured well and sounds as good as any 12 string I have played including a modern Guild. I have no idea of it’s value but would not part with it for under £1000.00.
I believe these guitars were well mad and are pretty rare these days.

      : Thank You

I bought an acoustic guitar in 1985 which has a label inside writing M. Suzuki Model W-400. It is a nice and clean sounding acoustic guitar. One should take Phosphor-Bronze strings. I don’t know whether it is the guitar you are writing about.
      Mike

      1. I have owned one for 25 years. Real good wood in it. I have to say that it sounds pretty good. It has the same wood as an expensive Martin. I play it alot.I have played a good number of guitars and I could put this up against many. It has a soft sound. I had some work done on it and it is very easy to play. The action and intonation is quite good. Any ideas of value>

I have a W500. It seems to be a Japan copy of Martin D-35 or D-45. The guitar is built in 1978. It must hav been good lokking in old days, but not a great sounding instrument. I fixed it from a bad condition, and has put in to mic systems in it Tor Tønnessen

I’ve owned this guitar (W-400) for the last 30 something years. I used to plug it into my Fender acoustic amp, with a Dean Markley pick up in sound hole, and I would match it up against any guitar of it’s day, for the beautiful and full sound it put out. It sits atop my mantle in my music room, as the retired “old pro” it is. I’ve looked around years ago, and couldn’t find ANYTHING about this guitar, but knew it was a beauty. It doesn’t surprise me, that it would match up with the Martin of that era. i guess I should take it to a luthier to get it primed back up, like the old days. It has a few issues from MANY hours of playing, but sounds like it’s worth it to fix up. Happy strummin’ all!

: I bought one of these at a garage sale several years ago, serial # 715. I just polished it up and put new strings on it. It is weird in that its first fret is just in front of the nut. It looks good, but the neck seems to be bowed as the strings are 5/16ths off the 20th fret. I was just wondering if it would be worth it to try to rectify this problem.

Two piece, med/light body with a lake placid blue colour and a quilted maple neck with a maple fingerboard laminated top. There is no skunk stripe. The seller told me it was manafactured in 1974. Does anyone know about this model of suzuki’s? Thankyou.

I just bought a guitar with model #26148, Simson sears canada. It looks very similar to a Kawai MIJ guitar. I’ve also seen a Kay that looked very similar.Harmony Central has a review that the description is very close to mine under Kawai. The guy that named Teisco imported guitars from Japan during that time frame, I forgot his name, one of the guitar magazines did an interview with him, and in that article, it was mentioned that Kawai did supply Sears with guitars, so it adds up, it’s a place to start. If you run across any info, please email me, and I’ll do the same. Craig.

My wife bought it new off the rack in 1969 for $75.00. I don’t know what it’s worth today, to me it’s priceless,
it will never be for sale. The only thing I’ve done to it in
the past 25 years is change the strings, finger ease lemon oil on the fret board and play it! alot. Todays $500.00 (Yamaha or Fender) don’t compare. If any other players pick it up to play, it takes about 30 seconds before I hear
"what a nice guitar"…..Just thought I would comment, happy playing. Dan

I have an old Takeharu guitar from the early 1970’s. It says Takeharu Guitar on the headstock with an emblem that looks like a crown and leaf on top, and two leaves under the words. It is a rather large accoustic. It is a light wood on the top, with a dark wood sides and back. The pick guard is very fancy and has a white bird, possibly a dove, and roses on it. The guitar looks very much like on Jim Croce used to play. It has a wonderful sound, and is easy to finger. I would like to know how much it is worth, and what model it is, or find out some place where I can find this information.

      Ruth

I have just been given this same guitar I think with elaborate pick guard with a dove and roses.. looks like abalone inlay on the fret board and some sort of steel, adjustable saddle brace. Mine is believe to be early 70’s. If you find any information could you please pass it on. I will return with any info I dig up.

Many years ago I traded an old guitar amp for a acoustic guitar. I’ve had the guitar since then, it is a Takeharu WK-250 that looks a lot like the WK 300 on this link: http://members.fortunecity.com/shiny1/

The WK 250 has a less elaborated backside, and somewhat different inlays on the front, but still as elaborated as the WK 300.

Does anyone know anything about this guitar? Is it good, was it expensive or cheap? I cant find any info about Takeharu on the net, it seems that they dont produce guitars anymore.

      Thanks.

I am looking for information on how old my Kiso Suzuki-Violin Folk guitar Model AR-210 Serial#40941. I’ve had it for a few years and love it. It has a great sound even though it’s been around and around. I’m not concerned about the value cause it means the world to me I’d just like to know how old it might be. Best guess is from the early 70’s???
Thanks for any help someone may be able to give, Cheers.

I have a Suzuki acoustic guitar that I inherited from my Grandpa. He bought it from a pawn shop in the early 70’s. It is a direct copy of a Martin D35: 3 piece split back; pearl inlay around the binding and sound hole; Martin styled headstock and tuners. It plays beautifully!I was wondering if anyone has any information as to the approximate age and worth of the guitar (not that I would EVER sell it!).

        Hello,

About suzuki G-150, the guitar price was 15.000 Yen in japonese catalogs. So it was a cheap but good guitar. My father bought the same model new in France in 1981, for a price of 1000 francs, which mean 150 euros now. So, around 200 $. It was his classical guitar teacher who went with him in the shop and recommended this model to my father after trying it.

It’s not pricy, i think the top is laminate but good sounding, i really love mine.

Greetings from france, and sorry for my english !

Hi, I just inherited a Kiso Suzuki acoustic. The Model is W-1000BB. I cant find documentation anywhere. I would like to know if it is worth restoring. It has fret rattle on a few frets and is unfortunately pretty bad.
Everything is original on it. The tone from this guitar is quite amazing within the playable areas on the fretboard.
What is this guitar worth and is it worth restoring to a playable state?
      Thanks,

First let me say that I am in Brazil and my English is horrible so I will use an online translator to express my words ok. I have a tool at hand, I think that’s very rare. Model AE-20S SERIES: 821 115. I would like to know details of manufacture and origin of it!

      5. Suzuki Three S
        Marcus Lynch

        Hi,
I have a Suzuki Three S (named on the headstock as well as with Three S logo on label inside guitar) dreadnought guitar. I am trying to figure out quite what model it is, and what it is worth for insurance purposes. I know that it was bought around 1976 by my friend, Sandy. I always coveted it from the first time he let me play it – and he left it to me when he died far too young in 1999. I play it most every day (I used to play a Yamaha, but never touched it again once I restrung the Suzuki).

The label has a number (3180) and serial number(?) RM 25537 and says “Nagoya Japan”. Anyone have any bright ideas how I can pin down model number and monetary value – sentimental value is priceless, and its sound is absolutely gorgeous.

          Roger Turner

          Hi Marcus,

Your guitar sounds pretty much identical to mine. My label number is 3180 and serial number is RM 26321. If you look inside the soundhole at the bottom of the heel block you will see the date of manufacture stamped. (Mine is 770212 hence 12th February 1977). Your guess of 1976 for your guitar would be spot on.
If you receive this message, come back to me via email, we can talk more. I am in Cumbria, United Kingdom.

I have one too. Bought for $40.00 + tax at a pawn shop. I coudl not resist after I played it. for an old acoustic and a 12-string at that.. it played and sounded beautiful! I didnt care how it looked but its not ugly. stays in tune, has a great way to adjust the intonation, especially for an acoustic and is EASY to play. i have recorded a lot with it.

I judge a gtr by the way it sounds and plays. if have to pay 4 grand for one, well (i wont have that much money for one probably) I would if i could IF it matched my ears and fit my body like a glove. but otherwise, ill go with what sounds and plays well. THATS an intrument. i care not who laughs at me and beleive you should see what I have been laughed at for loving as instruments. lol. theyre just missin out.

        : Hi,

I haven’t found information about this guitar, but I’m going to make some photographs and I’ll send them to you to see if it’s the same guitar model (colour can be different…).
My guitar was bought in Valladolid (Spain) in 1973, that’s all I know for the moment.
I hope to find some useful information that can share with you.
        Thank you for your post.

I’ve got a W200 12-string too but it is a "Pro Martin", not a suzuki. It says "made in japan" so they could be the same guitar but badged differently?

  18. Takeharu 'Lady' guitar. Heard of it?
    John Scott

    Hi,

I have a little classical guitar I know nothing about – a web search hasn’t turned up anything, and I’d be really grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction to find some info.

It has quite a slim soundboard – much less rounded than most guitars – not unlike how classical guitars looked in the 17-1800’s though I know this one is fairly recent, certainly not older than 30 years or so.

The label inside says "Kiso Suzuki violin company. Lady’s Takeharu special. Takeharu guitar, made in Japan. 50905 LGT-30A"

Any help would be much appreciated!
