Does anyone know if boss fx pedals are true bypass?
(check by running guitar to pedal with no battery or adapter to amp and play. if you can still get the dry sound while running through the pedal with no power, it is a true bypass. if not, it means it sucks tone, volume.)

Does anyone know why the two power transistors get hot and fry themselves as soon as I hook up the 8ohm speaker on my Trace Elliot Supertramp 100w Guitar amp.
The speaker itself tests o.k. as does the lead, so I am assuming it's a shorted component on the output side of these transistors.
Any clues as to the area of the circuit board in which I should be looking would be greatly appreciated.

The scale of a regular guitar wouldn't be long enough, therefore it wouldn't work. I suggest buying a Jerry Jones 6-string bass. They go for $400-$500 and you can tune them to a baritone tuning as well, A-A or B-B.

i have an epiphone sg 310 and i,m not convinced it cuts it when it comes to lead playing i can never get the tone i,m looking for(it seems to have problems holding the tuning at the bridge end of the fretboard as well, i,m constantly checking intonation and tuning
)i was thinking maybe if i got hold of a gibson it might help,.. being more expensive..if not that then have you any ideas?(except for a fender)
Don't fall into to the trap of thinking that a Gibson is better than an Epiphone. I used to have an Epi LP that was gorgeous that I bought for $185 used and it had a flamed top! So I'd definitely buy used. And try to buy older models that hold their value. I recently bought a 1972 SG with mini-humbuckers and a bigsby for $499 on Ebay! The guitar is worth around $700 easy so look for the deals.

If you must have a Gibson, then at all costs buy one that's at least 10 years old. The junk Gibson ships now is no better than korean and chinese made guitars. Their total lack of quality sucks.

Pff.. a lot of guitars are suitable for lead playing, depending on style you choose your axe of course. On a new epiphone, changing pickups might help cuz it's should be a decent guitar. Stay in tune is an other thing... a decent set of keys could do the job but if you're not happy with the sound also, just sell the &%(*^&* thing and buy something else. A Gibson won't sound necesarly better (depending of what you expect) but because it's better build, it should stay in tune better.

Hello, I recently got a very nice Gibson Les Paul L6-S. I know nothing about the value or time frame this one was made. Can anyone help me out here? I've looked for a serial number but couldn't find one. All I see is "Grover" marked on each individual tuner, and L6-S marked on the truss rod cover and of course Gibson on the head stock. Since I don't play guitar, does someone know how to tell when this one was made and maybe an estimate of it's value in Excellent condition?
Hmm.These guitars were made around 1976-'77. Unfortunatly, there doesn't seem to be much demand for them. So,the going rate is about $500-$600.Played on them quite a few times...SMOKIN'! Built for speed.
