Telecaster special wiring
I have installed a Texas Special Telecaster neck and Texas Special Strat middle pickup on my Telecaster. I have also installed a 5 way switch. The neck pickup has a white, black, and yellow wire in it. The yellow is ground, the white is hot, but I need to know where the black wire should be soldered on the 5 way. The Bridge pickup is stock so if this black wire is a split, I'd like it to be in conjunction with the bridge. Anybody have any idea?
Pickup Heaight Adjustment
I recently bought an epiphone sg special and i want to raise the pickup heaght and was waonderinghow as i am not used to non strat style guitars.
Re: Pickup Heaight Adjustment
you just turn the screws on either side of the pickup.

Re: Pickup Heaight Adjustment
: well justin, on most of my guitars there are screws on the sides of the pickups that can raise and lower the pickups becuase the pickups have springs behind them pushing up.
1970 Gibson Acoustic

The LGO was an all mahogany small box guitar. Your serial # indicates it was built in 1967-8. They quit building them in 1970. The retail price for a new one in 1969 was $99.99. They were a well built guitar and easy to play. It's worth a bit more now than it was then. Made in USA!

please help!whammybar
hey there
im having a prob with my whammy bar. i can screw it in and all, but when i play a chord and i hit/fiddle with the whammy bar, there wont be any change to the sound of the chord. am i doing something wrong?or is my geetar just shoddy????can someone give me brief step by step instructions on how to insert and use a whammy bar????
thank u so much,
skank hard,
T.
Re: please help!whammybar
Well it could be your springs, most guitars with whammy have 3 springs it the back, you could have five, try taking a few out, or you could try and loosen your bridge screws so that the bridge has room to whammy.
: when you put in a whammy bar all you do is screw in the bar till it almost can't screw in any more but still hangs solid without moving freely. then just take a hold of that thing and whammy all night long

Re: please help!whammybar
maybe you have a steel block in the bar, some people do this to increase the sustain on the guitar, but this also makes the trem bar useless, take off the back plate and have a look.
thanks so much guys

MUSIC TECHNOLOGY
I was surfing around last week and found a site that showed a guy making piano, organ, string sounds using his electric guitar. Stupid computer locked up and I lost it. I thought that was pretty impressive, anyone know how he was doing that??
Re: MUSIC TECHNOLOGY
i didnt see it but it was probably a MIDI pickup on the guitar, check out the roland website for the GK guitar pickups and VG88 processor.

Thanks for the info
Re: MUSIC TECHNOLOGY
Thanks for the assistance, I found the page again. The guy was using a MIDI guitar interface in a Korg TR-rack module. ( http://www.theguitar.net/videos.html ) Took a quick look @ ZZounds and this equipment cost $1300.00, so hence how damn impressive it is.....maybe if I ever completely master guitar I'll try strings.

63' or 64' Sears & Roebuck Rocket guitar
Hi, My father has a Sears and Roebuck Harmony Rocket guitar, he's not for sure if it is a 63' or a 64'. It is a hollow body with 2 pick-up electric guitar. He is curious as to how much it is worth. He does not want to sell it, as he is an avid guitar player! He also has a Sears & Roebuck 1964 15 in.sears tower bass amp and is curious of its worth also. Thanks
mystery guitar
Hi, all. It may be a long shot, but I was wondering if anybody could identify a mystery guitar for me. I was shopping around pawn shops and found an old beat-up electric with some kind of enamel smeared over the headstock (for what purpose I have no idea). The maker is unreadable, and "rock'n roll version" is all I can make out.
The body itself is yellow, with a fixed neck. One humbucker and two knobs--volume and tone. Looks like a rosewood fretboard. At first glance I thought it was a Les Paul Junior, but the $50 price tag makes that a virtual impossiblity. However, it is at a virtual junk store, and there is a chance they might not know what they have. The current strings on it have rusted, and it probably hasn't been played in years.
In any case, it's a pretty guitar and if it isn't complete junk it may be worth the 50 bucks. Any ideas?
Zoom 606 question....
I don't know if I'm being over-ambitious with my meagre Zoom 606, but I'd love to be able to recreate the effect used by Matt Bellamy when he plays Bliss live. You know the one, it does the piano bit on the studio version.
If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears!

I don't know if I'm being over-ambitious with my meagre Zoom 606, but there's on effect I'd like to recreate. When Matt Bellamy plays "Bliss" live, he uses an effect to play the piano section. If anyone has any idea how to do this with a Zoom 606, I'd be VERY....excited :)

Bootleg
I remember back in the early 80`s in college selling bootleg Zeppelin.I had a 90 min tape and a 60 min for 20 bucks.I made about 200 dollars in one semester.I had ``Destroyer``which was ``Cleveland 1977``i think.I also had ``Melencalay Danish superboys get it on`` which was recorded in Amsterdam or maybe even Copenhagen in 1979 ,It was the first concert of their last tour.I had ``live in Japan`` where Bonzo was late for the show and the band played a tune from Zep 3.I also had ``Montreal Forum 1975``.It sounded like ``The Song``,but poor sound. Can anyone tell me if they can still be found?
Identifying My Martin Guitar
Since 1974 I've owned this Martin accoustic guitar. There is no serial # on it to make it easy to identify.
I've done some research and believe that it was probably made sometime between 1965 and 1970. Currently it is not playable.(needs some work) But, when it was playable, the sound was beautiful and the action was great! Any ideas on how I can zero in on the instrument's real I.D. would be greatly appreciated.

I'd go to the Martin website and look up a Martin repair facility. If one is near you, take it to them. Maybe send them a photo and ask them to identify it.

The Fender F series guitars were made in Japan so prices aren't great. The 2004 VG Price Guide suggests $175-$250. SB
pleasehelp!E string
hey there
my lower e string really annoys me. Its loose ,so when i play it, it rings against the fret board. ive tried tightening the string, but then it becomes untuned and it turns to a E sharp. And its even worse when i drop d the string! Is my problem fixable, and if it is, is it worth getting the string raised or something? can the string actually be raised somehow???
thanks a load for answering my dumb question.
cheers man!!!!!!!! thanku!

You don't say what kind of Guitar it is, which will affect the way you fix the problem; I'll assume it's a solidbody and you're using light strings.
There are a # of things that can affect this: The neck may have a 'back bow', which is a convex arch-the string is likely 'noting out on a fret- If that's the case the truss rod needs to be relieved. Sight both the bass & treble sides of the neck from the headstock & look for a hump in the neck-Bring the guitar up to pitch-then turn the truss rod nut counterclockwise a bit and see if the neck straightens out.
You may have a high fret which will need to be reset. You may have the pickups to close to the strings-the magnets will pull the strings toward them-causing distortion & in extreme cases can cause the string to 'note out'.
If you are not sure -take it to a qualified set up person and spend the $20-25. for a proper set up. Improperly adjusted saddles, too light a string, A back bow in the neck, are likely all involved in this minor problem, and are easily fixed by any decent set up man.

hoggies
i think hoggies should have more freedom. people think that just because i am a pig, I can't do anything. well, they're wrong. I actually played the guitar for jimmi hendrix-he just mimed. but because i am a pig he got all the credit. so i say C'MON FARMYARD ROCKERS-WE CAN DO IT! who's with me?
