It's a "power chord", put your 1st finger on the 2nd fret of the 5th string, now play just the top
two strings. You just played E5! If you need to play G5 put your 1st finger on the 3rd fret
of the 6th string and your 3rd finger on the 5th fret of the 5th string. You can move this anywhere
on the top strings, where-ever your 1st finger is, thats what chord you are playing. The "5" is in
reference to the degree of the scale that note is in relation to "E", the 5th is the dominant note
in the scale, thats why they are called power chords.

: I have been looking at my nirvana nevermind music book and the blasted chord keeps croping up! I am new to the guitar seen so if anyone can help me buy giving me the diagram or suggesting alternatives i would be very greatful. thanx ant
