Early 60's Conrad..My first Electric..HELP

: Hey guys, I was given an early 60's model Conrad with a Sunburst finish as a birthday gift from a younger brother. The guitar is awesome looking, but the previous owner has never done much with it. The guitar is in mint to excellent condition. My question is, "The bridge was not mounted on the guitar and the back pickup doesn't float. Will the back pickup affect the sound drastically if it doesn't float and what is the best way to tune the guitar once the bridge is placed under the strings.
