If you practice an hour every day you should get caluses on your fingers after a week. Then the notes will become clearer. Learn a three chord group like A D and E or G C and D. Get someone to teach you a slow song that uses those chords (like a 12 bar blues) and you should have it in a week. Electrics are generally easier to finger for the beginner.
