I just want to know your opinion on which one of these guitars it’s better for rock. I play stuff from creed, fuel, guns n roses, metallica, etc. The mexican strat is 60 and the Epiphone Les Paul Standard is 50, so I think the Les Paul is a little bit better.

Obviously all of these people favor anl strat or a les Paul. Coming fom me, who has both and loves both, there both perfectly even. It depends in what kind if sound you want. I do have to say the les Paul is much easyer to solo on though.

Actually it depends all on what tone you want. Just because its more expensive doesn’t mean its better. If you want a nice, warm bright tone I suggest a Fender Stratocaster. If you want more of a fat sound, get a Les Paul. Another suggestion would be a Fender Stratocaster HSS or HH. I prefer Les Pauls. It also depends on what type of music you play. If you play stuff like Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, I would suggest a Les Paul.

i think that the fender sieres are really class guitars but i think that Gibson are that little bit better and have better looking and performce type guitars!!!

: i recently bought a mexican strat( jeff beck stylie,white with rose wood neck) and it is a quality instrument,great sustain for a bolt on and it looks the nuts. i think that if you want to get that real syrypy sound of a les paul the epi is perfect when you stick her to rhythm mode,but the strat seems to have more angles,or a wider range of voice if you will. failing that check out the new epi casino.it is a great guitar, one that they have perfected themselves over the years; cheers rimm

O.K., finally a real answer to the question. I have been playing for 16 years, I play both American and Mexi strats, and also have a Les Paul (68′ custom sunburst), and an Epiphone standard. I play all of them during one gig.(our band does a variety of different style music). The Mexi is as good sounding live as my 69′ vintage Strat. Brighter tone , but that is where the tone knob comes in, and the Mexi has a great neck.The Epiphone standard, well, If I happened to leave (god forbid) or forget my 68′ Les Paul at home, well, no big deal, the Epiphone would substitute without question (I wouldn’t look as cool doing GnR tunes, or Zepplin) But the truth is, the Mexi is the best deal on the market……for players who choose to follow thw Fender Way of life (Fender for life), now for those of you who may choose the dark side or should I say Gibson (no hate, all love) the Epiphone Les Paul standard, well it’s as close to the actual thing as you can get, I mean CLOSE. And they are a little more easy on your shoulder. So in closing, both are as close to the real thing as you can get without the big price tag. Whichever you choose, play for the love not the look or the fame. You may love the look of a low slung Les Paul but if you’ve never played a Strat, well you just need to. ‘Preciate it. Rock on!!!

Hi, i have both a Epiphone les paul standard and mexican fender strat with a maple neck and i find both to be very good indeed, the les paul is more for the bluesy solos(very good indded for those) and the fender for anything, if you decide to go for an epi then settle for nothing less than a epi les paul standard(top of the range, epi)because the fender will simply slaughter anything lower and personally they’re both equal from my piont of view

I play stuff from NoFx to Disturbed to B*U*S*H to Creed and I personally favor the strat with a hot bridge humbucker, my bridge p/u is the Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates plus, it has some real meaty tone. The strat’s 25.5" scale gives the notes a lot more attack, AND the radius of the neck means you can play a lot longer and reach the higher notes faster than any les paul player. SO JUST SAY NO TO THOSE LES PAUL CONFORMISTS WHO THINK A LES PAUL AND A MARSHALL ARE THE *PERFECT* RIG…

welcome to the jungle if u want my oppinion gibson rock in2 the sky, but is the epiphone version as gud compared to the strat well ask sum 1 like tom delonge and he wud say the strat goz hes got 1 shoved up his ass, personnaly if u play around with the pickups u can really get a gr8 sound, but if u want 2 no, ive got both and i thin kif ure on a budget get the strat, but if ure willin 2 t8k a risk, go for tghe epiphone and if ure luky ull reap the benefits big time

I agree with Mason. It’s an individual thing. Some people work better with les pauls and others with strats. I only work well with telecasters, for instance, but forced to choose between your 2 choices I’d get a Epi les paul and change the pickups (if you put gibson or semour duncan pickups in an epi it’s pretty well as good as a real gibson). But that’s just me. Mexican strats are good too. If it’s any help, Slash would choose the epiphone. .

They’re bothe pretty good. I have heard an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, and played a Mexican Strat, and they’re about the same. Personally, I like the sound of the strat. Thanx

Quite apart from one’s personal choice between 2 quite different styles of guitar, the main consideration would be what’s the QUALITY of the instrument? Not that long ago, Mex Strats were trash & years ago so were Jap Squires; it would appear that they’ve got their act together more recently. Rock on…..

well, my friend plays with a elps and I have the strat, we play in a band together and the 2 go together brilliantly, personnaly i choose the stat. FENDER ALL THE WAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
