I agree with Mason. It's an individual thing. Some people work better with les pauls and others with strats. I only work well with telecasters, for instance, but forced to choose between your 2 choices I'd get a Epi les paul and change the pickups (if you put gibson or semour duncan pickups in an epi it's pretty well as good as a real gibson). But that's just me. Mexican strats are good too.
If it's any help, Slash would choose the epiphone.
