Try one of those orange stomp boxes (Boss DS-1). That's what I always used for punk. If you
crank up the gain on your amp and stomp on the stomp box you get this outrageous
distortion with lots of sustain. And it sounds pretty close to the original punk sound from
back in the seventies. It's pretty noisy though--that's the only drawback.
