How much is a 1948 Stella worth?

Im sure you think it's strange for a ten year old like myself to be asking the value of an old guitar. My great-grandpa's guitar was and old Stella Acoustic. He kept it in the attic for years until he died. My family owns it. We thought it was an old 1920 beat up thing, worth maybe $10 or less. (we live in Canada) We took it in to get it fixed up. The guy there said it's about 1948 and worth $500. That really surprised me, since the tailpiece came off, there is a HUGE crack in the back, and the neck is bowed, making it hard to press the strings in the center. Another flaw: the G string is way to low in the nut, so if you press the first fret, the fret acts like the nut and it's still a G. If we left like this, or chaned it, how much would it be worth?
