: I'm looking for suggestions as to content of a promo kit that would be appropriate for handing out to local live music venues. Obviously, a B&W photo, band bio, and CD will go in the kit. Any other suggestions? I would appreciate input from musicians in all genres, so that I have a representative sample of what's being done out there. Thanks.

I have some unrelated advise. If there is live music at say a music store, like a big tower records, ask the manager whether the store has a local music section. If there is a section, ask them if they could put your CD in one of thier listen stations. Also when you put a kit together, add maybe a bit of mystery to your photos and stuff, like make your pictures darker, come up with an interesting symbol things like that. Also if you haven't done it already, create a website. The internet has become a hot spot to check out music, and utilize that. There are also some sites where you could post Mp3's of your music. Thats about it, well anyway good luck to your band
