: I want to buy an american fender, i dunno if a standard one or a hot rodded or a deluxe, are they really different?

I had some american fenders. Now I have JV japan Squire (and some other guitars) and this axe sounds just like some vintage Fs and MUCH better then most of the 80's and 90's strats. This squires were made just few years in the beginning of 80's and then stopped by Fender (guess why?) they have fender parts and are vintage reissues. If you can find one buy it! Search web to find more about those beasts. My opinion is the Fenders are mostly overpriced, and lot of them are crap (good vintage = $$$$)consider buying Strat-like guitar from another manufactor. You should have experience in Fenders to find good one, they are uncosistent in quality and sound.
