Check out Yamaha's entry level acoustic guitars. Epiphone and Ibanez have fairly good acoustic guitars at below $300. If you can spare a bit more, try the lower end guitars by Tacoma and Takamine, as well as Ovation for electric acoustics. good luck to your playing. :)
