There is one cat, J.M Rolph, who does excellent work rebuilding existing pickups and generating stuff to spec, and may have an existing product to fit your needs -- http://www.cinternet.net/~rewinder/ -- excellent stuff. Given the superiority of the sound, I don't think you'll find him more expensive than the larger commercial guys.
