: hello,

: i have been playing for about 3 months now. i have been picking everything up very quickly except barre chords. when i try to play them all the strings ring clearly except the 2 that my second knuckle is on. is this the way everyone does when they try to play them in the beginning or is it just me and my screwy fingers. when you play a barre chord do you roll your finger on its side or do you play it with the bottom part of your finger just slightly rolled back. Another thing is my elbow gets sore a little while after i play. It feels like when i pitched 6 or 7 innings of baseball in high school. Am i using to much elbow motion to play. sorry i wrote a book and thanks for reading it.

Hey man, hows it going? I think we all have had a difficult time with barre cords at first. It takes a while to develop the wrist strength make the notes ring out properly. Just keep practicing, move up and down the neck and switch between open position and barre cords. Eventually (after many days, weeks or months) it will become second nature. Practice and wrist strength are the key.
