In my estimation it will tone down your sound. You will get a mellower tone(which I think is really cool in a lot of situations). You probably will find that your distortion sound doesn't have as much juice but has some cool tones that it didn't have before. To put it briefly, I think it's a great idea if you want a bluesy tone. I think it's a bad idea if you play heavy music.
