buying electric guitar

: I have been playing acoustic guitar (Eagles, JT, CSNY, etc) for about a year and I would like to take the step into an electric. I like from Little Feat and Sonny Landreth all the way to Steve Morse. I was wondering how well the guitars out there that combine humbuckers and single coil pickups work for variety. Maybe like a fat strat or something - any suggestions?
