: I Have DOD FX86 Death Metal distortion pedal and can't figure it out. I have had it for about 6 months and quit using it about a month ago. I would like tjo have hardcore distortion but when I play I can't understand what I am playing. There is no deffinition in my sound. DOES ANYBODY HAVE A SUGGESTION THAT MIGHT SOLVE OR AT LEASTE HELP THIS PROBLEM?

I have the same pedal and when I first started using it, I had the same problem (I couldn't make out the seperate notes and chords). All you have to do is keep playing around with the knobs until you get it right. Since there's no drive knob, it can be a little tricky at first, but you'll get used to it. I like to put the RIP (level knob) about halfway. I put the guts (low end) all the way up. Turn the pain (mids) all the way down. Then put the scream (highs) on the third notch. Hope this helped a little. Remember just keep playing around with the knobs til you get the sound you want. Also try putting all your amp settings on the same as the pedal because it sounds a lot better that way.
